En este texto exploro cómo los indígenas de la Amazonia colombiana vivencian y expresan la sexualidad y el afecto. Argumento que estos asuntos están estrechamente relacionados con una noción de persona construida a partir de la pertenencia a un cuerpo social y de una concepción del cuerpo que marca las diferencias de género para unas cosas, pero que las matiza para otras. Para desarrollar este argumento me baso principalmente en información etnográfica de los macuna 1 y los nükak 2 , dos pueblos cuyos modos de vida presentan elementos similares y otros notablemente diferentes. 3 Así, mientras que los macuna son * Recebido para publicação em 20 de setembro de 2013, aceito em 30 de outubro de 2013.
Se examinan las connotaciones del nombre "maku", utilizado como término agenero para los pueblos del noroeste de la Amazonia con tradición nómada. Un estudio de la literatura histórica, lingüística y etnográfica lleva a la conclusión de que "maku" no es el nombre de ningún particular. Grupo étnico sino que es un término que tanto para la población indígena sedentaria como para las personas que han estudiado los grupos conocidos como "maku", tiene connotaciones negativas. Además, el uso indiscriminado de esta palabra durante un período de tiempo ha dado lugar a confusiones en la clasificación de estos grupos; el mismo término se ha utilizado para los pueblos que son lingüística y culturalmente diferentes, oscureciendo las características peculiares de cada uno de ellos. Todos y cada uno de estos pueblos viven en contextos específicos y mantienen relaciones diferentes con los diversos sectores de la sociedad nacional y con otras sociedades vecinas e indígenas, situación que está modificando su etnia. El artículo concluye que lo mejor sería seguir utilizando el término maku-puinave para el grupo lingüístico en su conjunto y llamar cachof a los pueblos que componen este grupo por su propio nombre étnico.
Colombia desde las regiones es una propuesta editorial que surgió del interés por pensar nuestro país a partir de las formas de vida de las zonas invisibles para una tradición centralista, no solamente en las formas de gobierno, sino en las prácticas de reconocimiento cultural y social. Para desarrollar esta iniciativa, consideramos pertinente la propuesta de regiones culturales del Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (IGAC), que nos sirvió de guía inicial para ordenar un relato acerca del país en el cual se exprese que la historia de Colombia no es homogénea, ni lineal, y que su proceso de conformación social y cultural es diverso y muy desigual. El punto de partida de este ambicioso proyecto consistió en realizar una búsqueda detallada de quienes han investigado acerca de áreas particulares del país, en su mayoría desde los mismos territorios. Buscamos a investigadores e investigadoras que por región y por tema fueran especialistas, para lo cual acudimos a las universidades y centros de investigación con estudios puntuales sobre cada región, de ese modo reunimos un conjunto amplio de especialistas de la Universidad del Valle, Universidad del Rosario, Universidad de Cartagena, Universidad de Santander, Universidad del Cauca, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana sedes Cali y Bogotá, Universidad de Antioquia, Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, Universidad Externado de Colombia, Universidad Central, Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira y Universidad Nacional de Colombia en sus sedes de Bogotá, Amazonas y Medellín. También a investigadores que no tienen vinculación institucional pero sí una trayectoria en el área de los estudios regionales. Inicialmente a este conjunto de autores les propusimos abordar cada una de las regiones definidas por el IGAC desde cuatro campos temáticos: el territorio, las gentes, la historia y el patrimonio. Pensamos que de cada una de las regiones se pudiera mostrar las características geográficas del territorio y el análisis de los usos de los recursos ambientales, la configuración de las distintas zonas de reserva, protección o conservación, y la conformación de la estructura económica de explotación y producción que genera distintos conflictos por el territorio.
