En la actualidad la temática de juegos serios ha ganado importancia e interés y ha provocado que diferentes áreas de la ingeniería y el desarrollo del software trabajen en pro de la mejora de su diseño e implementación. Aunque existen estándares que posibilitan realizar buenas prácticas en cuanto al diseño e implementación del software, en la mayoría de los casos la accesibilidad no es considerada en el proceso de desarrollo. Es así como, en el caso de los juegos serios, se hace necesario vincular también esta característica en el proceso de desarrollo, es decir, permitir que diferentes tipos de usuarios (incluyendo población con diversidad funcional) puedan acceder a las funcionalidades de un juego serio. De este modo, uno de los retos de los juegos serios es evaluar su aspecto funcional desde la perspectiva de la accesibilidad, dado que las investigaciones existentes se han centrado, más bien, en la usabilidad de los videojuegos y los juegos serios. A partir de estos aspectos, y de cara a la necesidad de generar heurísticas de accesibilidad para los juegos serios, este artículo presenta como insumo inicial a dicho proceso un conjunto de problemas asociados a los juegos serios desde la perspectiva de la accesibilidad, así como su clasificación, teniendo en cuenta criterios y principios de la norma NTC 5854 de accesibilidad web.
