1. A new Caryophyllaeid cestode Adenoscolex oreini n.g., n.sp., from fresh-water fish, Oreinus sinuatus, is described.2. Genus Bothrioscolex Szidat, 1937 is regarded as a synonym of the genus Khawia Hsü, 1935. The existing species of Khawia are listed and are briefly described.
The cuticle is smooth. The lateral alae extend from the middle of the oesophagus to the region of the spicules in the males, but in females they are extended further posterior to the middle of the tail or more. The anterior short "pharynx", the procorpus, is poorly differentiated from the remaining cylindrical portion of the oesophagus. Three sclerotized structures are present at the anterior end of the oesophagus. The posterior flaps of the valves of the bulb extend slightly into the dilated lumen of the intestine. The intestine at its commencement is broader than the bulb, and gradually narrows down towards the anus. The excretory pore is situated anterior to the usual pre-bulbar position, and is located at the beginning of the posterior third of the cylindrical oesophagus. It is surrounded by a crown of chitinous rod-like structures. The tail is sharply pointed in both sexes.
1. A new species, Ganeo bufonis, from a toad, Bufo viridis, in Kashmir, is described. This is the first species of the genus recorded from a toad; it differs from the known species in having both the vitelline glands confined to one side. The uterine coils do not extend into the post-caecal area; the excretory bladder is without any median stem and the metraterm is present.2. Ganeo tigrinum Mehra and Negi, 1928 is also recorded for the first time from Bufo viridis. Ganeo kumaonensis Pande, 1937 and Ganeo lingnanensis Li, 1938 are both regarded as synonyms of Ganeo tigrinum.3. A revised generic diagnosis and a key to the species of the genus Ganeo Klein, 1905 are given.
In a critical review of the genus, the authors after studying ample material arrived at the conclusion that only four of the twenty-one species are valid. The shape of the testes is shown to vary from smooth to deeply lobed, and minor differences in the sucker ratios are considered invalid.
1. A new species, Cosmocerca kashmirensis n.sp. from the toad, Bufo viridis, in Kashmir, is described. The new species has 19 plectanes in the male tail, of which 3 plectanes are simple rosettes and resemble the compound caudal papillae of the genus Cosmocercoides.2. The existing species of the genus Cosmocerca Diesing, 1861 are listed and briefly described.
