1127densation reactions to yield higher nuclearity cluster^.^.^^ This apparently occurred in these solutions also, and 1 mol of 1 combined with 1 mol of 0s3(CO),,(p3-S) t o yield 2. This was supported by t h e results of an independent reaction of 1 with Os3- (CO),o(p3-S), which gave 2 in 43% yield.Acknowledgment.
The Schiff base condensation of 1,2‐diaminoethane and 2,6‐diacetylpyridine in the presence of a lanthanide acetate produces the complexes (I) with excellent yields, where L is the macrocycle and n varies between 3 and 6 depending on the metal and the ambient conditions.
ChemInform Abstract The Schiff-base condensation of diacetylpyridine (I) and diaminobenzene (III) in the presence of the uranyl salts (II) produces the complexes (IV). The tricyclic compound (V) is also formed. The salts (IVb) cannot be completely separated from the mixture with (V). A related Pr(III) complex, the complex (VI) (space group P21/c, Z=4), is obtained in a low yield (1-5%) from a similar metal-templated reaction followed by partial anion metathesis. The structure of the Pr complex (VI) is determined by X-ray analysis. The macrocyclic cations existing in these UO2 and Pr(III) complexes retain their identity in solution and are moderately inert to metal release in the presence of acids or bases.
The Schiff‐base condensation of 2,6‐diacetylpyridine and 1,2‐diaminoethane ,in the presence of Lu(III) acetate (MeOH, reflux, 6 h), followed by precipitation with perchlorate ions yielded the title complex (I), which crystallizes in the space group P1 with Z=2.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
