Specialists in education are becoming more and more aware of the importance of providing educational opportunities that enhance the development of emotional and social competence of teenagers. Practicing motor activities can be a significant factor in the development of emotional intelligence of young people. We believe that through the formative function of physical education and sport, being aware of the motor act specific to sport disciplines, students will be able to develop areas of emotional intelligence (recognition of their own emotions, intelligent handling of them, empathy, interpersonal relationships) in order to preserve the required psychophysical on a rhythm and volume of work increasingly higher, specific to contemporary society. This work aims, by applying motor programs, to identify the role of corporal activities in structuring the emotional-affective system of young people, getting positive effects on psycho-motor development and personality. The experimental sample consists of students from the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest. The research methods used are: bibliographic documentation, pedagogical observation, investigation procedure, psychological tests, experimental method, statistical and mathematical method, graphical representation method. As a result of applying the motor programs and processing the data obtained, we can say that there is a significant correlation between the interest in motor activities and the level of emotional intelligence (p = 0.017). Experimental groups proved a higher level of emotional intelligence compared to the control group. We believe that the formative function of physical education and sport is important for the development of emotional and social competence of young people.
Given the orientation of the student-centered education, through our study, we aim to prove that the game of basketball can influence the development of the emotional intelligence in young people in order to achieve future professional performances and increase the quality of life. In order to carry out the research we used general research methods, particular methods and methods of analysis and interpretation of the data obtained: the scientific documentation, the pedagogical observation and the statistical-mathematical method. The research was carried out in the academic year 2017-2018, comprising a number of 22 weeks, respectively 22 lessons of physical education and sports, and brought together a number of 50 students aged between 19 and 26. The results obtained showed an improvement in the level of the emotional intelligence, the improvement of the self-esteem, the self-affirmation and self-identity; development of the communication capacity; development of the empathic capacity and the social networking capacity.
A large number of teachers and researchers admit that at the end of their studies, young people are not prepared for future challenges, both as individuals and as members of society. The cognitive perspective of curricular and didactic approaches is not enough to be successful and happy. Practical skills are required to manage emotions, not only to "nourish" the mind. From the perspective of new theories about the nature of emotions, if the emotional intelligence of young people is developed through social and emotional learning, it represents an enormous luggage for their personal and professional future. Studies show that Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the best predictor for future acquisitions, for success, compared to the traditional intelligence (cognitive). It is a transferable ability that allows rapid adaptation to contemporary social changes. In this context, the first step is to understand the extraordinary role of using emotions intelligently. Success in life depends on the emotional and social skills which are formed throughout formal education or, at least, which should be pursued as objectives, beyond disciplines.
The purpose of the research is represented by the improvement and the evaluation of the functional capacity aimed at the students from the economic and technical non-profile higher education, aged 19-22. We hypothesized that if a program which should include homogenous and continuous efforts is systematically applied, significant results can be obtained in improving the functional profile of the students. In this regard, 82 students from two universities participated in the research. In order to carry out the research we used methods of analysis and interpretation of the data obtained: the scientific documentation, the pedagogical observation, the statistical-mathematical method and the graphical method. The comparison of the results obtained in the final tests aimed to verify the efficiency of the training means proposed and applied in the experiment. From the analysis of the results obtained we notice that there are statistically significant differences regarding the functional capacity of the students.
