Specialists in education are becoming more and more aware of the importance of providing educational opportunities that enhance the development of emotional and social competence of teenagers. Practicing motor activities can be a significant factor in the development of emotional intelligence of young people. We believe that through the formative function of physical education and sport, being aware of the motor act specific to sport disciplines, students will be able to develop areas of emotional intelligence (recognition of their own emotions, intelligent handling of them, empathy, interpersonal relationships) in order to preserve the required psychophysical on a rhythm and volume of work increasingly higher, specific to contemporary society. This work aims, by applying motor programs, to identify the role of corporal activities in structuring the emotional-affective system of young people, getting positive effects on psycho-motor development and personality. The experimental sample consists of students from the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest. The research methods used are: bibliographic documentation, pedagogical observation, investigation procedure, psychological tests, experimental method, statistical and mathematical method, graphical representation method. As a result of applying the motor programs and processing the data obtained, we can say that there is a significant correlation between the interest in motor activities and the level of emotional intelligence (p = 0.017). Experimental groups proved a higher level of emotional intelligence compared to the control group. We believe that the formative function of physical education and sport is important for the development of emotional and social competence of young people.
In basketball, due to the high number of stimuli, perceptual skills are great importance, especially in anticipation and decision-making processes. The aim of this study was to compare the results of the simple reaction time of athlets students (n = 12) with that of non-athlets students (n = 12), belonging to the same age category (19-20 years). The study started from the hypothesis that athletes show lower values of the simple reaction time of both the dominant hand and the non-dominant hand. These results are possible due to the fact that basketball is a sporting game requiring ambidextrous and adaptive neuromuscular response to training and competitive requirements. The two experimental groups are represented, on the one hand by the women's basketball team of University Polytechnic of Bucharest, and on the other, by the students participating in the physical education classes (random selection). The evaluation of the simple reaction time was carried out by means of the computerized test Inquisit 5 (Computer Software). Inquisit 5 computerized test (Computer Software) was used to evaluate the simple reaction time. Measuring the time of simple reaction to visual stimuli by computerized testing consisted of pressing the "spacebar" key at different time intervals, whenever a red circle appeared on the screen. Each subject repeated the test two times, keeping the best results. The degree of plausibility of the hypothesis was determined using the Student test. The results demonstrated that there are significant differences between the two experimental groups in terms of the simple reaction time. These results support the fact that basketball game improves "eye-hand" reaction time.
Abstract:Even if the written information on movement by therapy, are "only" nearly 5,000 years old, no doubt that human beings had sensed long before the benefits which the motion exercises brought to restore health. Physical exercise, used both for the broad implications it has on the health of the human body in general and on most of its functions in particular, represents the basic means of the physical therapy prophylaxis. Basketball, through its means, can be considered an "associate" of the traditional physical therapy prophylaxis. Thus, one can obtain various physical therapy programs which do away with the monotony, refreshing the traditional means. Remodeling the apparatuses, structures and systems of the human body, according to the laws of growth, and also of the young people, is due to the current social dynamics, to the new lifestyles required to cope with the daily challenges, to become competitive and to integrate professionally. This paper proposes to promote the health and the prophylaxis of the body posture and alignment disorders, such as lordosis, over the lifetime, by diversifying the physical therapy means with various basketball game means.
