NUTRITIONAL EVALUATION OF SUGARCANE BAGASSE ENRICHED WITH VINASSE IN DIETS FOR GROWING RABBITSABSTRACT -Aiming to evaluate the digestive use and performance of growing rabbits fed with diets containing sugarcane bagasse enriched with vinasse, 118 New Zealand white rabbits was used in a digestibility, caecotrophy and performance trials. The experimental design was completely randomized, being applied in the digestibility and caecotrophy three treatments (a reference diet, a diet containing sugarcane bagasse and a diet containing sugarcane bagasse enriched with vinasse) and in performance trial, four treatments (0, 50, 100 and 150 g kg -1 of bagasse enriched with vinasse). The data were subjected to variance analysis and subsequently carried out comparisons between the averages of the treatments. The bagasse enriched or not with vinasse changes consumption, excretion and the digestibility coefficients of dry matter, mineral matter, organic matter, crude protein, ether extract and gross energy. The inclusion of vinasse promotes the improvement of the values of digestible energy and digestible protein of bagasse. There was no change in the dry matter of the cecotrophes, while there wasn't on the crude protein of cecotrophes by the inclusion of the bagasse enriched or not with vinasse. There was a reduction of the nutritional contribu...
DIGESTIVE AND PRODUCTIVE UTILIZATION OF SEMI-SIMPLIFIED HAY DIETS ENRICHED WITH VINASSE FOR GROWING RABBITSABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of two qualities of Tifton 85 hay enriched or not with vinasse in semi-simplified diets on the apparent nutrient digestibility, composition and nutritional contribution of cecotropes, productive performance, and carcass, edible viscera and gastrointestinal tract yields of growing New Zealand White rabbits. Fresh vinasse at a proportion of 2:1 was added to the diets containing high-quality (HQV) and lowquality Tifton 85 hay (LQV). The control diets containing high-quality (HQ) and low-quality Tifton 85 (LQ) were not enriched with vinasse. In the digestibility assay, the semi-simplified diets were not influenced (P>0.05) by the quality of hay or by the addition of vinasse, except for the digestibility coefficients of mineral matter, which were 52.31%, 51.13%, 54.45% and 46.73% for treatments HQ, HQV, LQ and LQV, respectively. In the cecotrophy assay, production, chemical composition or
The objective was to evaluate the inclusion of macaúba seed cake (MSC) meal in diets for growing rabbits by assessing their growth and slaughtering performance, haematological traits, nutritional contribution of caecotrophs, in vitro digestibility, degradability and fermentation parameters. A total of 88 rabbits were distributed to four groups with 22 animals each and fed diets containing 0, 50, 100 and 150 g/kg of MSC, respectively. The in vitro assays were conducted employing cecum inoculum on the same dietary treatments. The inclusion of MSC yielded a quadratic effect on in vitro dry matter digestibility (p < 0.001). The maximum amount of produced gas was raised linearly with the inclusion of MSC (p = 0.016). MSC linearly reduced several variables as the nutritional contribution of caecotrophs in dry matter (p = 0.017) and crude protein (p = 0.014), live weight at 51 d (p = 0.024), body weight gain (p = 0.039), average daily feed intake (ADFI) (p = 0.001) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) (p = 0.007) in the first period evaluated (30-50 d); furthermore the ADFI and FCR the second (51-72 d) and whole period (30-72 d) (p < 0.001). MSC addition caused a quadratic effect on white blood cells count (p = 0.026) and a linear decrease of eosinophils (p = 0.045). In conclusion, the inclusion of up to 150 g/kg of MSC improves the in vitro digestibility and fermentation potential of the diets, reflecting on the ADFI and FCR of the animals, although adverse effects are observed on the weight of the commercial carcass and nutritive contribution of the caecotrophs.
The aim of this study was to assess the nutritional value of diets that contain torula yeast in rabbits and agoutis and the influence of torula yeast on the apparent digestibility of the nutrients. In the first experiment, 32 New Zealand White rabbits were fed diets with four different levels (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) of torula yeast that was substituted for soybean meal. The experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments and eight repetitions.
This study evaluated the effect of the inclusion of rejected taro tuber flour (RTTF) on the productive performance in commercial hybrid pigs (Landrace × Duroc × Pietrain) during their post-weaning period. The experiment was established under a completely randomized design, comprising four treatments (0, 10, 20, and 30% inclusion of RTTF in the diet), using a total of 60 piglets with 15 repetitions each. The average daily feed intake (ADFI), average daily gain (ADG), feed conversion (FC), final body weight (BW), presence of diarrheas, mortality, and production cost, were determined. RTTF showed a high dry matter content, nitrogen-free extracts, gross energy, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, potassium, iron, polyphenols, and antioxidant activity. RTTF inclusion in the diet of pigs in the entire period (30-58 d) did not cause diarrhea or deaths and showed a quadratic effect on BW (p < 0.001) and ADFI (p < 0.001) and produced a linear effect on ADG (p = 0.006), FC (p = 0.003) and production cost (p < 0.001). In conclusion, the inclusion of RTTF in the diet of pigs after weaning (30-58 d) ranging between 0 and 30 % showed no effect on BW and ADFI, with a slight decrease in ADG and FC and a linear effect on production cost reduction.
