The use of continuous gas−liquid flow reactors for processes involving fluorine gas is reviewed. Falling film, microbubble, and laminar flow reactors that have been adapted to carry out direct fluorination reactions are described, and a range of selective fluorination reactions involving direct fluorination of a variety of aromatic, dicarbonyl, diester and benzaldehyde derivatives are presented as well as related continuous flow oxidation processes (such as epoxidation reactions and the transformation of amines to nitro derivatives) involving fluorine gas.
The generation and use of the highly potent oxidising agent HOF·MeCN in a controlled single continuous flow process is described. Oxidations of amines and azides to corresponding nitrated systems by using fluorine gas, water and acetonitrile by sequential gas-liquid/liquid-liquid continuous flow procedures are reported.

AbstractContinuous flow methodology for the synthesis of perfluoroaryl difluoroamine derivatives by reaction of fluorine gas with an appropriate perfluoroaniline substrate is described, further demonstrating the efficient use of flow regimes for reactions involving highly reactive and toxic reagents.
Oxirane derivatives R 0030 Epoxidation of Alkenes Using HOF·MeCN by a Continuous Flow Process. -The oxidizing agent is generated in situ from fluorine and wet acetonitrile. It reacts with a variety of alkenes in a continuos flow reactor to gives oxiranes in good yields. The method is applicable to large scale synthesis. -(MCPAKE, C. B.; MURRAY, C.
