Abstract-The increasing world population, and therefore the increasing of the energy demand bring us to the scenario in which the energetic solutions have to be supported by the renewable energy sources, i.e., solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, etc. Due to the geographic location of Ecuador, these types of energy sources can be considered during the analysis, design and implementation of a rural electrification system. An off-grid electrification is helpful, especially for providing electrical energy in remote areas. The purpose of this work is to analyse and propose a suitable energetic off-grid system solution for rural electrification in a selected county placed in Ecuador. This study is based on insitu measurements of energy consumption as well as on the quantification of possible energy sources, i.e., solar and wind energy. This analysis is carried out with the help of a simulation tool. Considering the real obtained data, the electric load profile for a community is estimated and a complete system is proposed. Additionally, technical and economic details of a Wind-Solar energy system are presented. Keywords Abstract-The increasing world population, and therefore the increasing of the energy demand bring us to the scenario in which the energetic solutions have to be supported by the renewable energy sources, i.e., solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, etc. Due to the geographic location of Ecuador, these types of energy sources can be considered during the analysis, design and implementation of a rural electrification system. The article presents a case study of the elaboration process and the results obtained in a seed research project developed and executed during 12 months by 6 undergraduate students of the University of Guayaquil together with a tutor using the method based on project-based learning. In addition, a final interview was conducted with the participants and discourse analysis was used to examine personal and academic achievements. The results were the development of oral and written planning and communication skills in the participating students, as well as some publications in congresses and refereed journals.
The purpose of this study was to apply a feedback based on the peer instruction through the use of a web page developed by students of the Bachelor's Degree in Education Sciences with a major in Physics and Mathematics of the University of Guayaquil in the teaching of the concepts of Work and Energy to improve students' performance. This web page emerges as a result of a research seed project and it aims to provide a resource for the teacher through which effective feedback can be made to students during the teaching-learning process. The subjects of study were 120 students enrolled in the First Year of Unified General Baccalaureate of Ecuador who are studying the subject of Physics. Their ages are between 14 and 16 years, including 57 men and 63 women. The procedure followed during the procedure was as follows: (1) to present the intervention to the experimental group and the control group to the traditional model (2) apply the performance test. The Welch's t-test gave the result of p < 0.0001. Therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected and the research hypothesis is accepted. In addition, it can be inferred that the results obtained are due to the feedback made by the teacher through the use of the web page developed in the present research seed project.
The objective of this work is to verify the effectiveness of the use of an application for the cell phone, M-VLE App, which aims to be a support tool for feedback and evaluation of learning. For this, two surveys were designed, one for professors and another for students of an Ecuadorian university, in order to determine the importance and relevance of the research. In this stage, 70 teachers and 54 students participated, then, an experimental study was conducted, in which 30 students participated. They were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was allowed to use the M-VLE App and the control group was given the traditional class. Two tests were taken: Test 1 and Test 2. Based on the results of the tests, with 95% certitude, a value of p <0.0001 was obtained in the unpaired test t test, which rejected the null hypothesis and the research hypothesis was accepted. Finally, the use of this type of applications is recommended and it is expected that this work will continue the debate about the use of new information and communication technologies, such as cell phones, within the teaching-learning process.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
