A prática de ensino, na atualidade, não difere muito das práticas tidas como tradicionais. Não obstante, é possível observar que algumas estratégias de aprendizagem vêm sendo desenvolvidas por educadores e pesquisadores que acreditam na possibilidade de promover mudança em seu fazer pedagógico. Nesse contexto, o planejamento de atividades por meio da sequência didática surge como estratégia de metodologia inovadora da maneira de ensinar. Trata-se, portanto, de uma metodologia de ensino-aprendizagem centrada no aluno, que surgiu a partir dos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCNs) e que vem sendo adotada por professores de várias disciplinas. Este trabalho consiste em uma revisão da literatura, com o objetivo de apresentar a sequência didática como metodologia de aprendizagem significativa, eficiente e eficaz, que pode ser usada em diferentes níveis de ensino e áreas de conhecimento. Como aporte teórico, utilizou-se Zabala (2008), Oliveira (2013) e Schneuwly, Dolz e colaboradores (2004), Macedo (1994), dentre outros. Os resultados apresentados por professores e pesquisadores que fizeram uso desse método em diversas disciplinas, tanto na educação básica, quanto nos cursos universitários, afiguraram-se bastante positivos, sendo a utilização da sequência didática uma metodologia bastante enriquecedora, desde que o modelo esteja alinhado aos conteúdos necessários à formação dos educandos.
