PurposeDrawing on self-determination theory, this study explored how leader humility affected employees' proactive behavior through satisfying their psychological needs for autonomy, competence and relatedness. Furthermore, based on a contingency view, this paper suggested Chinese traditionality as a significant boundary condition for the effects of leader humility.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from 465 employees and 111 direct supervisors in China using a three-wave, two-source design. Hierarchical regression analyses and Hayes' PROCESS macro were applied to test the hypotheses.FindingsThe results indicated that leader humility positively affected employee proactive behavior through the mediating mechanisms of psychological need satisfaction (i.e. autonomy, competence and relatedness). Furthermore, these positive effects were stronger among employees with lower Chinese traditionality beliefs.Originality/valueAlthough prior research has examined the relationship between leadership and proactive behavior, most extant studies have focused on “top-down” leadership approaches, ignoring the effect of leader humility. Drawing on self-determination theory, the present study makes contributions to both the leader humility research and proactivity literature by identifying psychological need satisfaction as the mechanism and Chinese traditionality as the moderator.
In the triangular meshes obtained in additive repair, it is a challenge to find one single hole-filling method to close all holes and make the filling patches assort with surrounding meshes well with low time complexity, which is mainly caused by the shape complexity and size difference of the various holes, especially in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, 3D measurement, and reverse engineering. Therefore, it is reasonable to adopt different algorithms to fill different types of holes. In this research, a fast hole-filling method for triangular mesh is proposed based on the hole size. First, a group of basic concepts is defined to make them uniform throughout the whole text, followed by the descriptions of hole detection and boundary cleaning. Second, three different algorithms are developed to fill the small-sized, middle-sized, and large-sized holes classified by hole size respectively, which can fill all the detected holes in a fast and proper manner. Finally, two experiments are carried out to verify the efficiency, robustness, and ability to recover the shape of our method. Compared to two state-of-the-art hole-filling methods in the first experiment, the quantitative evaluation results demonstrate that our proposed method is much faster than them with the ability to guarantee the regularity of most filling triangles. The second experiment proves that our method can produce satisfactory filling results by making the filling patches be compatible with surrounding meshes well.
PurposeDespite the relatively long research continuum on IT capability and performance, the “IT capability-performance” link has remained hazy especially related to the mediating role of IT-based communication and networking overall. Therefore, this study investigates how IT capability affects Internet interactive practice and how it further affects marketing effectiveness and firm success.Design/methodology/approachThe authors collected the survey data from 504 manufacturers in China, and structural equation modeling is used to test the hypotheses.FindingsThe results indicate that (1) IT capability has positive effects on both interorganizational systems (IOS)-enabled and social media (SM)-enabled interactive practice; (2) IOS-enabled interactive practice has a significant positive effect on both marketing and financial performance while SM-enabled interactive practice has a positive effect on marketing performance but no effect on financial performance; (3) IOS-enabled interactive practice mediates the effect of IT capability on marketing and financial performance while SM-enabled interactive practice only mediates the effect of IT capability on marketing performance; (4) marketing performance mediates the impact of IOS-enabled and SM-enabled interactive practice on financial performance.Originality/valueThis study has highlighted the role of social media practice in the relationship between IT capability and firm performance, which makes certain theoretical contributions to the existing research.
Hidden defects in transmission lines can be detected by X-ray. Through the simulation of different voltage/current tests in the laboratory, the live detection test of digital X-ray detection equipment was carried out and the detection tests under the live condition of 110kV transmission line carried by unmanned aerial vehicle, the maximum tolerable voltage of X-ray digital imaging equipment during live operation was determined. By using the electric field finite element simulation, the affected field intensity detected by the equipment is 360kV/m, and the spatial field intensity distribution of ac transmission lines with different voltage levels is given, which provides a reference for selecting reasonable electric field shielding measures for the live operation of X-ray digital imaging equipment.
