Components from all investigated self-etching adhesive systems were able to diffuse through the dentin resulting in significant reduction of the cellular metabolism.
A valorização dos aspectos que regem os conceitos de estética na sociedade tornou cada vez mais comum a procura por tratamentos estéticos funcionais. O clareamento dental associado às restaurações diretas são alternativas eficazes para devolver estética e função em tempo clínico curto associado ao baixo custo. Este caso clínico tem por objetivo apresentar a remodelação estética e o fechamento de diastema em região anterior de paciente adulto jovem, com a associação das técnicas de clareamento dental e remodelação/restauração com resina composta. A metodologia clínica desenvolvida neste caso foi eficaz em restabelecer a função e estética aos dentes anteriores da paciente de forma a promover um sorriso mais harmônico.Descritores: Resinas Compostas; Estética Dentária; Dentística Operatória; Clareamento Dental.
This clinical trial compared the efficacy of doxycycline (DOX) in β-cyclodextrin (DOX)/βCD) with DOX-alone in gel on thirty-three subjects with periodontitis. Patients were randomized to group 1 GI; 10% DOX + scaling and root planning (SRP); group 2 (GII (10% DOX /β-CD + SRP), and group 3 (GIII; SRP). Gels were applied in GI and GII at baseline (T0) and 30 days later (T1). Periodontal Probing Depth (PPD), Clinical Attachment Level (CAL), Bleeding on Probing (BOP) and Visible Plaque Index (VPI) were evaluated at (T0), 30 days (T1) and 60 days after T0 (T2). Bone density was analyzed after 18 months (T3). GII showed the most significant reduction of PPD (2.62 mm; p <0.003), and greatest gain in CAL (2.54 mm p <0.003) at T2. BOP and the VPI had a strong reduction in all groups at T2 (p <0.05), both decreased by ≥5 times and 2 times, respectively, in all groups at T1. Bone density increased in all groups in radiographs (T3). The use of DOX encapsulated in β-CD gel with SRP resulted in significant improvements in clinical periodontal parameters; such molecular inclusion of doxycycline into β-CD in gel for local application is relatively simple and useful in dentistry.
Drug‐induced reactions are complications associated with high mortality and significant morbidity. Stevens–Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are examples of these conditions, which are characterized by skin and mucous lesions. Here, we report a case of a 9‐year‐old girl who presented with blisters associated with an extensive vesicular rash and multiple ulcerations on the lips and oral cavity. A drug‐induced hypersensitivity reaction to antibiotics was suspected, and a diagnosis of TEN was made. The patient was managed with withdrawal of the suspected causative agent, and the oral lesions were treated with low‐level laser therapy (LLLT) and oral hygiene. This case highlights that TEN requires interdisciplinary intervention with dental assistance and follow‐up to improve symptoms, nutrition, systemic condition, and quality of life.
