Aim: To carry out a bibliometric analysis of the Chilean Sport Sciences scientific production indexed in the Web of Science until 2016. Methods: Chilean Sport Sciences articles and reviews included in the Web of Science Core Collection indexes until 2016 were analyzed. Data was collected and filtered in Endnote X6 programme and then exported to Excel 2013, Bibexcel and Histcite for analysis. Bibliometrics was focused on productivity, subjects and collaboration patterns. Results: A total of 152 documents published from 1981 to 2016 were found. Life Sciences was the main research area (104), while Physiology (36) and Sports Training Theory (30) were the most represented subjects. The mean of authors per article was 5.26 and the percentage of collaboration was mainly between 94% and 100%. Ramirez-Campillo was the most prolific author (24) and Caniuqueo achieved the highest collaboration index (10.83). Two networks, with 20 and 10 scholars respectively and representing 19 different institutions, were discovered. A cluster of 53 different journals has disseminated Chilean Sport Sciences publications, but 12 of them collected 60.53% of total production. Conclusion: Chilean Sport Sciences scientific production indexed in the Web of Science shows the progressive development and strengthening of this field of knowledge, clearly oriented to Life Sciences, teamwork and international collaboration. The establishment of a network including scholars from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile and Spain, which is propelling Sport Sciences research in this country, should be also highlighted.
Abstract: the aim of this paper was to carry out a review of documents studying the surfing in formal education for discovering the programs developed and summarizing the pedagogical orientations for its application. Thus, a systematic review was performed in Dialnet, Eric, SciELO, Scopus and Web of Science databases. Twelve documents, published from 2008 to 2018, developed in five different countries and focused on surfing, bodyboarding and standup paddle, were retrieved. These documents concluded that a progressive approach to the aquatic environment and to surfing should be done in three phases (educational centre, swimming pool and beach), starting with the practice of bodyboard since it is easier and safer than shortboard surfing. The recess time should be used for travels in those sessions developed in the swimming pool and the beach. Moreover, these sessions should be scheduled in the last hours of the school day. Physical Education teachers willing to implement surfing in their sessions should gain knowledge about sea safety, surfing equipment and its own techniques.

The doctoral thesis is one of the most valued productions in a researcher’s career. They are also an important source of information despite they are usually considered as grey literature due to their limited distribution. The aim of this work was to perform a bibliometric analysis of martial arts and combat sports (MA&CS) doctoral or postdoctoral dissertations indexed in the Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE) database. A comprehensive MA&CS terms list and search strings were entered manually in the database search engine. Duplicate references were removed and obtained documents were filtered for meeting inclusion criteria. Selected references were then exported to Endnote X6 for classification and to Excel 2016 for bibliometric analyses. A total of 457 theses focused on MA&CS, published from 1951 to 2019, were retrieved. The last analyzed decade collected 64.55% of total documents and judo was the most studied MA&CS, with 90 documents. We conclude that MA&CS theses and dissertations are an important source of information for scholars and academics, especially since the amount of them has considerably increased during the last decade at the international level.
