Abstract This research shows the breaks and continuities evidence of the cult of water and mountains in the Andean community of Socoroma (Northern Chile). We attempt to identify and understand the ritual expressions present in oral tradition and the religious manifestations of this community, which are fundamental elements in generating the cultural identity of its inhabitants. Our purpose is to show how the cult of the mountains and the water is reworked through the processes of cultural change, generating new deconstructions in agricultural rites.
