Identidades, continuidades y rupturas en el culto al agua y a los cerros en Socoroma, una comunidad andina de los Altos de Arica Carlos Choque y Elías Pizarro 1
ResumenEn este artículo se muestran las rupturas y continuidades del culto al agua y los cerros en la comunidad andina de Socoroma (norte de Chile). Con ello buscamos identificar y comprender las expresiones rituales presentes en la tradición oral y en las manifestaciones religiosas de esta comunidad. Dichas expresiones constituyen un elemento fundamental para generar la identidad cultural de sus habitantes. Intentaremos mostrar cómo el culto a los cerros y al agua se reelaboran a partir de los procesos de cambio cultural, generando nuevas deconstrucciones en los ritos agrícolas.Palabras claves: cerros sagrados -culto al agua -Socoromanorte de Chile -Andes Centro-Sur. Abstract This research shows the breaks and continuities evidence of the cult of water and mountains in the Andean community of Socoroma (Northern Chile). We attempt to identify and understand the ritual expressions present in oral tradition and the religious manifestations of this community, which are fundamental elements in generating the cultural identity of its inhabitants. Our purpose is to show how the cult of the mountains and the water is reworked through the processes of cultural change, generating new deconstructions in agricultural rites.
El presente artículo estudia varios impactos de la Primera Guerra Mundial en la vida cotidiana de los territorios fronterizos de Tacna y Arica (Norte de Chile). Se plantea que este conflicto, pese a su alejamiento, se expresó en la imposición de una serie de medidas de control social en la región. Éstas estuvieron guiadas por dos objetivos: la defensa de la neutralidad chilena y la preservación de la paz social. Es posible observarlos fundamentalmente, en los ámbitos de la actividad comercial, la libertad migratoria de los ciudadanos y de la movilización ideológica de la sociedad. Se recurre a una metodología que plantea el análisis de fuentes documentales, incluyendo a archivos de prensa local y documentos de la administración chilena en la región.
Este artículo pretende, aportar a la visibilidad de actores desconocidos de la historia regional del norte de Chile, mediante el análisis de fuentes documentales, método literal y lógico, presentando las funciones que cumplían los visitadores de escuelas como agentes de laacción educatica planificada desde el Estado y como mecanismo de control político y social, durante el período comprendido entre la incorporación militar de la zona de Arica, (1880) y su anexión a la soberanía chilena(1929), marcado por un proceso que la historiografía nacional conoce como “Chilenización”.
Este artículo analiza la articulación económica y cultural hispano-indígena durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVI en el área meridional del Colesuyu, ubicada en la actual región de Arica y Parinacota. El estudio intenta aportar nuevos antecedentes para la comprensión del espacio cultural del Colesuyu, así como de las relaciones económicas y políticas que se desarrollaron a lo largo de este período y su importancia para la construcción de la identidad étnica de la población indígena.
En el marco de la guerra del Pacífico, Chile ocupó militarmente Tacna y Arica (1880). Tres años después, en común acuerdo con Perú, firmó el Tratado de Ancón adjudicándose la soberanía condicional de esos territorios, pues esta debía escogerse por los paisanos residentes ahí. No obstante, La Moneda coordinó en tiempo breve, gracias al papel de sus agentes, un proyecto político-social para «chilenizar» a los lugareños peruanos. La administración judicial y el uso de la tierra, el servicio militar y la escuela fueron tres campos de acción que demuestran la dificultosa institución del Estado chileno en el sur peruano.
