Este artigo tem por objetivo relatar atividades extensionistas desenvolvidas junto a uma Equipe de Consultoria em Cuidados Paliativos (ECCP) entre 2018 e 2019. Destaca-se a organização, dinâmica de avaliação e atenção às pessoas em cuidados paliativos (CP) hospitalizadas e suas famílias pela ECCP e estudantes de graduação em enfermagem em articulação com profissionais diretamente responsáveis pela assistência em unidades de internação de um Hospital de Ensino do Sul do Brasil. Por serem enfermeiros os profissionais mais vinculados ao cuidado, seja por suas atividades ou pelo tempo que permanecem com os indivíduos, é fundamental a educação destes sobre o morrer e a morte desde a graduação. Conclui-se que ECCP em instituições hospitalares pode melhorar a qualidade do cuidado prestado às pessoas com doenças que ameaçam à vida e suas famílias, por meio da educação permanente de profissionais saúde e da aproximação de estudantes com as especificidades deste cenário.
Objetivo: descrever as barreiras vivenciadas e as estratégias ao seu enfrentamento utilizadas por profi ssionais de enfermagem para realizar o cuidado a pacientes em fi nal de vida em um serviço de urgência e emergência.Materiais e Métodos: Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, exploratória, de abordagem qualitativa, conduzida em um serviço de urgência e emergência no sul do Brasil, com um enfermeiro e dois técnicos por turno, totalizando 12 profi ssionais de enfermagem. Os dados foram produzidos entre maio e junho de 2018, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada e observação simples e, posteriormente, organizados por aproximação temática no programa Ethnograph v6, em sua versão de demonstração e submetidos à análise de conteúdos proposta por Laurence Bardin.Resultados: Foram elaboradas duas categorias: Barreiras aos cuidados às pessoas em fi nal de vidaBarreras al cuidado al fi nal de la vida en un servicio de urgencia
O acesso aos cuidados paliativos é um desafio enfrentado pelos sistemas de saúde do mundo. Quando se trata de assegurar o acesso de minorias, como as populações em situação de rua e LGBTQIA+ as dificuldades são ainda maiores. Por isso, este artigo tem como objetivo analisar o acesso aos cuidados paliativos pelas populações em situação de rua e LGBTQIA+. Para tal, realizou-se revisão integrativa de literatura na MEDLINE, em setembro de 2020. Os dados de 21 artigos foram extraídos no programa Google Forms, posteriormente organizados em planilha Excel e analisados por aproximação temática. Quatro unidades temáticas foram construídas: “Facilitadores do acesso aos cuidados paliativos pela população em situação de rua”, “Dificultadores do acesso aos cuidados paliativos pela população em situação de rua”, “Facilitadores do acesso aos cuidados paliativos pela população LGBTQIA+” e “Dificultadores do acesso aos cuidados paliativos pela população LGBTQIA+”. Conclui-se que educação em serviço pode minimizar comportamentos estigmatizantes por parte dos trabalhadores em saúde. Consultório na rua e redução de danos são maneiras de acolher e aproximar essas populações, a fim de favorecer o acesso aos serviços e aos cuidados paliativos no final da vida.
Decisões sobre cuidados às pessoas em final de vida envolvem diversos aspectos, representando desafio e mobilizando médicos e enfermeiros, profissionais que se sobressaem na tomada de decisões. Esta revisão integrativa de literatura objetivou identificar práticas de cuidado de médicos e enfermeiros em final de vida no hospital. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre janeiro e fevereiro de 2020 nas bases de dados Web of Science, Scopus e na Medical Literature and Retrivial System Online (MEDLINE). 58 artigos foram selecionados com os seguintes temas: sedação paliativa, ordem de não reanimação cardiopulmonar, comunicação e tomada de decisão, eutanásia e suicídio assistido, retirada ou limitação de tratamentos mantenedores da vida, tratamentos oncológicos e cuidados terminais. Conclui-se que as práticas de cuidado em final de vida centralizam-se em sintomas físicos e possuem o intuito de aliviar sofrimento. Suspender ou limitar reanimação cardiopulmonar, hidratação, nutrição e hemodiálise, bem como realização de eutanásia ou suicídio assistido apresentam maior controvérsia.
