Abstract:The study used multivariate analysis to calculate the water security index (WSI)to quantify the level of water security for Tra Vinh city - Tra Vinh province, from that, we propose solutions to improve and improve the effectiveness of management, exploitation and use of sustainable water resources for Tra Vinh city. This study has developed a set of criteria and parameters that serve as a basis for calculating the WSI index for Tra Vinh, including 53 parameters belonging to 17 criterias of 5 key aspects. As a result, the level of change in water-related security factors for the period 2012 - 2016, respectively, of the WSI scores for the years was: 56.4 (2012); 58.5 (2013); 56.6 (2014); 50.4 (2015) and 37.9 (2016). Key words. Water securiry, Water security index (WSI), Set of water security indicator, Tra Vinh city
The nonlinear kinematic wave model is developed from the Saint Venant system of equations, which includes a nonlinear kinematic wave program that solves the system of equations by Newton's iterative method and a linear kinematic wave program for calculations initial flow value. The developed model is tested with sample problems and compared with the simulation results by Mike 11 model on Tra Khuc river. Evaluating the simulation results of these two models show that, the simulation results of the Mike 11 model are better than the kinematic wave model, not significantly in the upstream and midstream flow, but significantly in the downstream flow of the Tra Khuc river. The simultaneous results show that the 1−dimensional kinetic wave model has sufficient reliability and applicability.
Three provinces including Long An, Tien Giang and Dong Thap, located at Dong Thap Muoi area in the Mekong Delta, belong to the southern key economic region of Vietnam. These provinces run from west to east with a vast network of rivers. Among them, VCD (Vam Co Dong), VCT (Vam Co Tay) and Soai Rap rivers are the three biggest rivers crossing the province. In recent years, the flows of rivers have changed a lot and saline intrusion has been very complicated. Salt water has intruded deeply into the field. In the 2000s, salt water only reached Tuyen Nhon (Thanh Hoa district), but now it has reached Vinh Hung district, about 50 km far from Tuyen Nhon. In 2016, the maximum of salinity in Xuan Khanh (Duc Hoa district) in VCD river was 6.8‰ and Tuyen Nhon (Thanh Hoa district) in VCT river was 5.2‰. In the coming years, the situation of salt intrusion is going to happen more unpredictable under effects of global climate change and sea level rise.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
