The presidential elections in Romania, record, most often, different results in the urban environment compared to the rural one. Bucharest, within the 30 years since the fall of the communist regime, has produced results that have demonstrated the clear desire of the voters from a certain post-communist stage of the presidential elections. The study is based on analyzing the results from all the post-communist presidential elections, on administrative units, that is, on the six constituent sectors of Bucharest. The method of analysis resides in tracking the statistical data provided by BEC correlated with the empirical results obtained by questionnaires carried out by us, in each sector. This additional analysis allows us to obtain the data regarding the reason that determined the election of a candidate for the position of president of Romania. The results confirm the relationship between the reason for the election and the political belonging of the candidates, both in the first round, as well as on what concerns the final result obtained in the second round. Bucharest remains a 0reference milestone in terms of political orientation and openness to democracy and European politics. Bucharest, as a resident population of a large city, wants an opening to what liberal politics and European democracy offer. Regarding the structure by age and socio-professional groups or as a level of education, Bucharest voters demonstrate the most balanced values. These very values are an indicator of the tendency of liberalism in presidential elections.
Our goal was to assess the Romanian’s food behavior according to their socio-cultural profile, in order to identify food behavior at risk and implement educational prevention methods. We performed a study based on the assessment of lifestyle and social aspects, based on an international project validated questionnaire of 26 questions, applied online in 2018 to a group of 821 adults, in Romania. The results underlined that socio-economic status was a contributing factor in food choices, people with low socio-economic status opted for low-price food, especially the elderly (40%). Regarding the preference for eating alone related to gender, both the female respondents (37.8%) and the males (50.6%) mostly disagreed, with statistical significance for males (p<0.022), also males were more influenced about what other people are eating (p<0.045). It is needed to implement new educational strategies, both in schools and adults communities, in order to reduce the risks for future chronic diseases.
The financial system is a set of arrangements and conventions that facilitate the transfer of money from its holders to those who need it. Our study performs an analysis of loans offered by banks to individuals. The loans have been granted, following the requests, both in lei (the national currency of Romania) or in the international currency as well. The analysis is performed based on data provided by the National Bank of Romania and the National Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund of Romania (FGDB) and presents the situation in each county and development region in Romania. Methodologically, in this study there have been rendered as for the period 2002-2019, two aspects: firstly the ratio between loans in national currency compared to loans in international currencies and, secondly, the relationship between accessing and the evolution of loans for houses/ flats in relation to the access and evolution of loans for personal needs, both in the national currency or in the international currency as well. A special analysis showed a clear representation of the way the situation has been treated, for both mentioned aspects, as well as the distribution of the results on the geographical regions of Romania. In this way, the results highlight the differentiated behavior of the population in each geographical region. The present study is only a part of a much more detailed analysis that follows the analysis of the indebtedness of the Romanian population, in which other indicators are also present.
Each period features typical aspects regarding investment in a certain field. Home and personal needs purchases by accessing bank loans have become more and more attractive. Our study analyzes this situation of home and personal needs bank loans accessed by the Romanian population in the first six months, January-July 2020. The analysis is made based on the data given by the National Bank of Romania and the National Fund of Deposit Guarantee from Romania. The methodology relied on tracking the two types of loans, for personal needs and homes and on the graphic representation of their distribution. The distribution map based on the two types of credits in counties, expanded regionally and then nationally for every month (January-July) in 2020 offers the bird's eye view upon this situation. The results of the survey follow firstly the attitude differences of the population in Romania regarding accessing home and personal needs loans before and after the Sars CoV 2 pandemic. The Covid 19 pandemic unpredictably influences many Romanians' budgets and implicitly the whole Romanian economic landscape. In each region from Romania there are counties with a high economic potential which go beyond the national ratio. Equally there are counties where the economic potential is lower. This is exactly the reason why we tried to capture in this survey the situation from each county. The incomes of the population influence accessing bank loans, regardless of their type. Because the statistics data have been issued until mid 2020, the situation is not very highly visible, but there is a shaped tendency concerning the orientation of the population towards a certain type of consumption. We intend to continue the survey for the next months of 2020 after this year as well.
Romania, like other countries in Eastern Europe, has gone from a totalitarian, communist, to a democratic political regime. This change in the political regime has also brought opportunities regarding the election of the president. After 1989 the presidential elections in Romania have had different orientations of the population regarding the political membership of the candidates. The study follows these mutations regarding the results of the presidential elections, in the two rounds, placing the political belonging of the candidates in the final round in the middle of general attention. The result highlights the relationship between those who have given a negative vote to a candidate, who has reached the final round, and those who gave a positive vote to the candidate they have simply chosen out due pure political beliefs. Within the 30 years since the change of the totalitarian political regime, the population of Romania has reached a major political change, oriented towards liberalism, in a very convincing percentage. These changes are based on a number of factors, which the study has analyzed on each geographic-historical province and, on each administrative unit, it has analyzed the componence of these provinces. The analysis has been made from the point of view of population structure by age group or socio-professional analysis, as well as from the level of education by historical provinces and therefore it explains the result obtained in the presidential elections.
