Oters' Preferences in Bucharest, Romania - Changes and Trends in Presidential Elections

Abstract: The presidential elections in Romania, record, most often, different results in the urban environment compared to the rural one. Bucharest, within the 30 years since the fall of the communist regime, has produced results that have demonstrated the clear desire of the voters from a certain post-communist stage of the presidential elections. The study is based on analyzing the results from all the post-communist presidential elections, on administrative units, that is, on the six constituent sectors of Bucharest… Show more

“…where m 1 , m 2 and m 3 represent the first three central ordinary moments; L 1 , L 2 and L 3 represent the first three moments obtained on the basis of the L-moments method [7,8,14]; and µ, σ, ξ represent the expected value, standard deviation, and the multiplication coefficient chosen according to the origin of the maximum flows [1,[14][15][16], respectively.…”

“…This aspect is for the benefit of safety, but it is often economically prohibitive, especially for low exceedance probabilities used in hydraulic constructions (p ≥ 5‰). In general, LSM is avoided [1] in applications of distributions from the gamma family because it results in very complex systems of nonlinear equations. This inconvenience is eliminated by using the nonlinear least squares method where the values are obtained by successive approximation (iterative methods).…”

“…Some of the most commonly used theoretical probability distributions in the FFA are those from the Gamma family (Pearson III, Kritsky-Menkel, Log-Pearson), those from the generalized Pareto family (Pareto type II, III and IV, Wakeby) and those from the generalized extreme value family (Weibull, Frechet, Gumbel) [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]. Other distribution families, such as the beta generalized, beta prime, and beta exponential families, were recently added based on [12,13].…”
