Oral Health seeks to consolidate itself within Primary Health Care with the Oral Health Teams seeking to expand access. The present study investigates the relationship of service coverage, represented by the coverage indicators of the Oral Health, Equivalent and Oral Health Teams, with the effective access, represented by the coverage of the first programmatic dental consultation, for the age groups from 5 to 19 and 20 to 64 years, in the municipalities of Minas Gerais. This is an observational, ecological, longitudinal and analytical study, supported by secondary data available in the databases of official information systems. The period covered is from 2008 to 2018.The independent variables are the coverage of dental services and the dependent variable is the indicator of access to coverage for the first programmatic dental consultation. As adjustment variables, the socioeconomic indicators HDI, GDP per capita and, also, the strata of the Program for Improvement of Access and Quality of Primary Care (PMAQ-AB) were used. Generalized Estimating Equation (GHG) models of gross and adjusted relationships between independent variables and the coverage of the first consultation over time were estimated. The fit of the models was assessed by the Quasi-Likelihood Under the Independence Model Criterion (QIC). In all analyzes, the significance level of 5% was considered. As a result, the positive association between access coverage and service coverage was obtained, with the prevalence ratios: for 5-19, PR = 1.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
