Karanganyar and the surrounding area are situated in a dynamic volcanic arc region, where landslide frequently occurs during the rainy season. The rain-induced landslide disasters have been resulting in 65 fatalities and a substantial socioeconomical loss in last December 2007. Again, in early February 2009, 6 more people died, hundreds of people temporary evacuated and tens of houses damaged due to the rain-induced landslide. Accordingly, inter-disciplinary approach for geological, geotechnical and social investigations were undertaken with the goal for improving community resilience in the landslide vulnerable villages. Landslide hazard mapping and community-based landslide mitigation were conducted to reduce the risk of landslides. The hazard mapping was carried out based on the susceptibility assessment with respect to the conditions of slope inclination, types and engineering properties of lithology/soil as well as the types of landuse. All of those parameters were analyzed by applying weighing and scoring system which were calculated by semi qualitative approach (Analytical Hierarchical Process). It was found that the weathered andesitic-steep slope (steeper than 30o) was identified as the highest susceptible slope for rapid landslide, whilst the gentle colluvial slope with inter-stratification of tuffaceous clay-silt was found to be the susceptible slope for creeping. Finally, a programme for landslide risk reduction and control were developed with special emphasize on community-based landslide mitigation and early warning system. It should be highlighted that the social approach needs to be properly addressed in order to guarantee the effectiveness of landslide risk reduction.
This paper highlights the importance of integrating social and technical approaches (which is the so-called "hybrid socio-technical approach") as one innovative and strategic program with respect to disaster risk reduction. Such a program is mainly based on multi-disciplinary action research to support the community empowerment program through public education. The technical approach was mainly conducted for geological and geotechnical investigation to analyze and predict susceptibility levels of the disaster prone area, as well as to develop an appropriate technology for hazard mapping and disaster early warning. Meanwhile, the social approach was necessary for analyzing and mapping the psycho-social conditions of the disaster prone area, and accordingly an appropriate strategy and program to implement the early warning technology can be formulated. Moreover, it is also important to establish a "community task force" as the driving power for landslide disaster risk reduction which can sustain the program at the village level.
This study examined about the national insights students of boarding senior high school and its implications to the personal resilience of students Indonesia archipelago vision (SMA A), senior high school inside the military environment (SMA B) and senior high school outside the military environment (SMA C) in Magelang, Central of Java Province. This study used mixed methods by combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data collection research used test for national insight, questionnaires for personal resilience and deep interviews with teachers and students from class X and XI SMA A, SMA B and SMA C. Research data analysis used T(t-test) and Pearson Correlation Test by using SPSS statistical version16.0 and continued qualitative analysis. The results showed that (1). There was a difference national insight students of SMA A, SMA B and SMA C. The highest percentage of the best answer was excellent on the nationalism indicator with the percentage of 81% achievement and excellent on the sense of nationality indicator of 85% was achieved by SMA A, while the national spirit indicator percentage of the highest answer was achieved by SMA C at 83% ; (2). There was a positive correlation between national insights students of SMA A, SMA B and SMA C and their personal resilience with the highest percentage of excellent answer score on the indicator of ductility by obtaining a percentage of 87% and excellent on the tenacity and excellent on the toughness indicator of 85% reached by SMA C. The strength of weak or small correlation due to the morality of Pancasila which became the foundation of national insight was not a main factor to established a basic relationship of personel resilience, but the other factors were required that faith in the heart that would determine the individual's tenacity which naturally underlied the formation of toughness so as to achieved personal resilience of students. Suggestion of this research that the operational guidance for teachers, schools and developers of national education curriculum would be needed to integrated the values of faith in the internalization of education with national insight, the need for educational facilities that supported the development of the national character of students and the need for exemplary parents and teachers as well as increased cooperation with related institutions to instilled awareness of the importance of national insight for the next generation of the nation. Analisis data menggunak...
Having low social skills can make individuals experience difficulty adjusting to a new environment. The purpose of this research is to validate "CAKAP" module to improve social skills. This study used a quantitative approach with the quasi-experimental design of The Untreated Control Group Design with Pretest and Posttest. Social skills scale, observation sheet, and evaluation sheet were adiministrated to 14 freshmen from Bali who joined in Keluarga Mahasiswa Hindu Dharma (KMHD). The test results of the content validity of the module using Aiken's V shows a value ranging from 0,734-0,861 for each session which means the module has good content validity. Empirical test results showed that there was a difference gained score between experimental group and control group (z = -2,194, p = 0,026, p <0,05). The results show that the module "CAKAP" is valid to improve social skills on freshmen from Bali.
