O repolho é uma hortaliça que pertence à família das Brassicaceae, e está entre as hortaliças mais consumidas no Brasil. É uma cultura tolerante a solos ácidos, e se adapta bem em solos ricos em matéria orgânica. Assim, O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar como diferentes substratos influenciam no desenvolvimento inicial de mudas de repolho. O experimento foi conduzido em condições de cultivo protegido estufa, no município de Coronel Vivida, PR. O delineamento utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado (DIC), com cinco tratamentos (substrato agrícola comercial Humusfertil, húmus comercial Humusfertil, esterco bovino + solo, areia + solo e casca de soja + solo), com quatro repetições, totalizando 20 parcelas. Foram semeadas 50 sementes de repolho cultivar capitata por parcela, onde se avaliou altura das plantas, tamanho de raiz, porcentagem de germinação, dias para germinar e a qualidade dos adubos orgânicos que foram utilizados. A altura das plântulas e tamanho de raiz estão relacionadas a composição dos substratos, onde, a escolha do substrato para produção de mudas é importante e vão contribuir na nutrição e desenvolvimento fisiológico da planta. Comprovou-se que substrato comercial e húmus comercial são boas alternativas no que se espera em relação à qualidade de mudas, mas também o esterco bovino + solo e casca de soja + solo são alternativas viáveis e definem a qualidade de mudas.
A macrofauna tem diferentes efeitos nos processos que condicionam a qualidade do solo. Esses organismos são utilizados como bioindicadores do funcionamento dos ecossistemas. Objetivou-se com este trabalho analisar a diversidade da macrofauna epígea, em área cultivada com Panicum maximum cv. Mombaça, na cidade de Teresina, PI. O levantamento dos organismos foi realizado em duas áreas: i) pastagem com capim Mombaça; ii) fragmento de mata secundária. Foram demarcados cinco pontos amostrais em cada área, e instalada, em cada ponto amostral, uma armadilha de queda do tipo Provid, para captura da macrofauna. A temperatura da superfície do solo foi aferida, nas proximidades de cada ponto amostral, e o conteúdo de água do solo foi determinado nos pontos amostrais pelo método gravimétrico, na camada de 0-10 cm do solo. A diversidade foi avaliada através do índice de Shannon-Wiener. Os resultados indicaram alta abundância dos espécimes das ordens Hymenoptera, Araneae, Holothyrida e Coleoptera na área de capim Mombaça. Foi observada correlação negativa entre a riqueza de grupos da macrofauna epígea e a temperatura da superfície do solo.
Informações a respeito da sazonalidade e quantidade da serapilheira acumulada fornecem subsídios para um melhor entendimento da dinâmica da ciclagem de nutrientes nos ecossistemas terrestres. Nesse sentido, objetivou-se analisar a dinâmica de acumulação da biomassa de serapilheira acumulada sobre o solo em fragmento de mata secundária, na cidade de Teresina, PI. A serapilheira acumulada na superfície do solo foi estimada através de coletas em cinco pontos amostrais. Foram determinados os valores do conteúdo de água do solo, da temperatura da superfície do solo, e do diâmetro ao nível do solo das espécies lenhosas. Espécimes da macrofauna do solo foram coletados para análise da diversidade dos grupos constituintes. A serapilheira acumulada foi estimada em 6,78 Mg ha-1, no início do período seco, e 10,02 Mg ha-1, no início do período chuvoso. Não foram observadas correlações significativas entre a biomassa de serapilheira acumulada e as demais variáveis. O levantamento da macrofauna edáfica indicou abundância de indivíduos que realizam a função de transformação do material formador da serapilheira. A elevada biomassa de resíduos sobre o solo, no início do período chuvoso indicam a importância desse compartimento na proteção do solo contra os agentes erosivos e na manutenção do equilíbrio mineral do ecossistema florestal.
Myrciaria glomerata pertence a família Myrtaceae, possui frutos saborosos, apresentando potencial de uso medicinal e na recuperação de áreas, com mudas florestais e frutíferas tropicais. Assim a associação com fungos micorrízicos arbusculares (FMAs) podem aumentar a sobrevivência das mudas em áreas de expansão e favorecendo seu cultivo. Objetivou-se neste trabalho, verificar a influência dos FMAs sobre o crescimento de mudas de M. glomerata submetidas a doses de fósforo (P). O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados, em arranjo fatorial 5 x 5, sendo os fatores inoculação com os FMAs (Glomus clarum, Gigaspora margarita, Gigaspora albida e Clareoideoglomus etunicatum e o controle sem FMAs), e cinco doses de P (0, 25, 50, 100 e 200 mg kg-1), com quatro repetições. As espécies de FMAs C. etunicatum, G. clarum e G. albida favorecem o crescimento e qualidade das mudas de M. glomerata. O aumento do P no solo elevou a qualidade das mudas, sendo que a dose de 100 mg kg-1 de P, favoreceu o crescimento e desenvolvimento de mudas de M. glomerata. A dependência e eficiência micorrízica variou em função do inóculo e do uso de P, sendo necessários novos estudos para entendimento da relação dos FMAs com esta frutífera.
