Objectives:To analyze the level of functionality and disability of older elderly persons receiving care at a university hospital in Curitiba, Paraná, and identify functional differences between men and women. Method: A descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, based on a convenience sample of elderly persons receiving outpatient care, was undertaken. The Brazilian version of the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS 2.0). Results: A total of 28 people with a mean age of 86.21 (±4.17) were evaluated. Of these 50.0 % were male, 46.4 % were widowed, and 57.1 % performed the evaluated activities independently. There were no significant differences between genders in terms of age ( p≤0.635) or years of study ( p≤0.329), although women showed a higher level of disability than men in general ( p≤0.16). Conclusion: The WHODAS 2.0 proved to be a sensitive tool for the analysis and comparison of the level of functionality of the older elderly. However, it is important to develop prospective studies, with non-convenience samples, for a better reflection on the disability and functionality of older elderly persons.

Currently advent of computer technology work with numbers has become less costly, with the use of specific software. These have been gaining ground in the academic environment, however, it is essential to assess the educational quality of this new educational tool. In this sense, we aimed to demonstrate the importance of using the BioEstat 5.3 software on statistical learning in undergraduate courses, emphasizing its ease and applicability in various statistical tests by students. The external quality of the program was evaluated following the method of check-list, checking pedagogical features, ease of use, features the interphase, functionality, portability and documentation generally and specifically for some parametric tests, non-parametric and descriptive. For all traits the program showed a satisfactory concept, especially for convenience of handling, easy acquisition (Free Virtual) and diversity of statistical packages. The tests had excellent performance such as speed of execution, presentation of results and ease of interpretation and application. Therefore, the software BioEstat showed great potential to arouse attention and interest to the student with stats and can be widely used for teaching...
The Center of Psychosocial Care (CAPS) has been the main equipment in that scope. Objectives: To report the development of Supervised Practice in Occupational Therapy in a CAPS II unit in Curitiba, Parana state, Brazil. Methods: This is an experience report. It features the training field and describes the stages of the teaching and learning process which involved institutional observation, reporting and intervention proposal, collecting data about the users' profile and attendances. The work focused the non-intensive users because they are close to hospital discharge. Results: We found that users of the non-intensive system, rather than crave the discharge, would like to return to the semi-intensive or intensive systems, aiming to regain sickness and transportation
