The portfolio as a strategy for learning assessment in early childhood education: considerations about the practice Abstract:The use of portfolios presents itself as an authentic strategy assessment that has been the subject of interest for researchers and professionals in education, since in addition of involving the early childhood educators in the documentation and learning assessment, it implicates the child resulting achievements, for example, the development of metacognitive abilities and of self-regulation, of positive attitudes for learning and the building a positive self-concept. In this sense, the present article, with reference to the Portuguese educational reality, and focusing on an emerging theme, aims to highlight the potential and characteristics of the process of preparing children portfolios in the context of early childhood education in order to support their understanding and use by the educators. Specificities of learning assessment are referred and procedures for the construction of children portfolios are described.

Palavras chave: EQuaP; envolvimento parental; educação de infância, boas práticas. AbstractThis paper presents the EQuaP project -Enhancing Quality in Early Childhood Education and Care and the phases of its implementation. It is an international project (ERASMUS +) aiming to contribute to the improvement of the quality of Childhood Education in Europe through an increased recognition of the importance of the quality of relations between families and educators. The project focused on four main activities: research on parental involvement; construction of quality indicators; identification and sharing of good practices; and Jobshadowing. The ultimate goal of the project is to build a Toolbox that can be implemented at an international level. Keywords: EQuaP; Parental involvement; Early Childhood Education, good practice.
