A ariranha (Pteronura brasiliensis) é o maior carnívoro semiaquático da América do Sul, sendo um animal de extrema importância ecológica pelo papel que desempenha troficamente. O objetivo deste trabalho é monitorar a ocorrência de P. brasiliensis no igarapé Esperança em zona urbana de Benjamin Constant- AM, e identificar interferências antrópicas sobre a espécie, dando ênfase em todo igarapé desde sua nascente até na sua confluência com o Rio Javari. Os dados foram obtidos a partir de buscas de evidências em campo, diretas ou indiretas. Os resultados obtidos pelas idas a campo comprovam a presença da espécie no local de monitoramento, e as interferências antrópicas detectadas denotam a necessidade de estabelecimento de diálogo com a sociedade no sentido de arregimentar mais colaboradores que se disponham a desvendar aspectos relacionados à dinâmica que se tem estabelecido entre os organismos aquáticos que vivem no igarapé e as populações humanas aí assentadas.
A cutia (Dasyprocta spp) é um roedor silvestre e encontra-se em condições críticas devido à ação antrópica e degradação do seu habitat natural. Com isso, o objetivo deste trabalho é identificar as principais interferências antrópicas no habitat das cutias na BR 307 em Benjamin Constant AM. Os dados foram obtidos a partir de buscas de evidências em campo, diretas ou indiretas. Os resultados obtidos pelas idas a campo comprovam a presença da espécie no local através das observações feitas e sua alimentação se dá por frutos que auxilia ecologicamente na manutenção das florestas por meio da dispersão. A ocorrência das cutias na plantação da maioria dos agricultores vem aumentando significativamente, pois há relatos de todos os dias a ocorrência das mesmas nos plantios em busca de alimentar-se de mandioca. Quanto ao destino que se tem tomado e que ainda se estabelecerá envolvendo esta espécie na área de estudo, elencamos como primordial ação, o estabelecimento de diálogo com os agricultores no sentido de melhorar as relações interespecíficas entre as duas espécies.
