A unique optical accelerometer based on a microring resonator fabricated on a flexible substrate is experimentally demonstrated and its performance analyzed. This accelerometer measures the applied acceleration by measuring the shift of the resonant wavelength of the flexible microring resonator. The measured sensitivity of 31 pm/g is in accordance with our calculations. Some schemes of tailoring the sensitivity and the dynamic range are also suggested.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
