ÖzetYapılandırmacı yaklaşımın, dünya genelindeki eğitim programları üzerin-deki etkisinin son yıllarda hızlı bir şekilde arttığı görülmektedir. Yapılandırmacı yaklaşımın çeşitli yansımaları, Türkiye'deki eğitim programlarında yapılan reform hareketlerinde de 2005 yılından itibaren kendisini yoğun bir şekilde hissettirmeye başlamıştır. 2012 yılında zorunlu eğitimin 12 yıla çıkarılmasıyla birlikte, fen eğitimi programının bir sonraki yıl yenilenmesi kararlaştırılmıştır. Bu çalışma, fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin 2013 yılında yenilenen fen bilimleri öğretim programına yönelik düşüncelerini ortaya çıkarmayı hedeflemiştir. Bu amaçla, bir yaz bilim kampına başvuran fen bilimleri öğretmenlerine yapılandırılmış açık uçlu bir ölçme aracı uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen nitel veriler içerik analizi yaklaşımı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin yenilenen öğretim programı hakkında hem olumlu hem de olumsuz düşüncelere sahip olduğu görül-müştür. Birçok öğretmen yenilenen programın daha sade ve anlaşılır olmasını olumlu bir gelişme olarak değerlendirmiştir. Ayrıca yeni programın etkinliklere dayalı öğrenme sürecine ve araştırma-sorgulamaya dayalı öğretim yaklaşımına verdiği özel önem, öğretmenler tarafından memnuniyetle karşılanmıştır. Diğer taraftan, kalabalık sınıflar ve laboratuvarlardaki yetersiz kaynaklar, programda yer alan öğrenci merkezli etkinliklerin uygulanmasının önündeki en önemli engeller arasında gösterilmiş-tir. Öğretmenlere yeni programla ilgili yeterli eğitimin verilmemesi ve yeni programın ilgili paydaşlarca (öğretmenler, öğrenciler, veliler ve yöneticiler) yeterince anlaşılmaması, katılımcı öğretmenler tarafından eleştiri konusu yapılmıştır.Anahtar Sözcük: Hizmet-içi fen bilimleri öğretmenleri, fen bilimleri eğitim programı, öğretmen algıları * Bu çalışma, "Best Practices and Innovations in Education (INOVED 2015)" isimli konferansta sözlü bildiri olarak sunulmuştur.

In recent studies, teacher quality is presented as one of the most important contributing factors to student learning. However, reaching a consensus about a precise definition of teacher quality is still far from actuality in the field of education. In other words, what constitutes a quality teacher and how to educate better teachers are still highly debated issues. Pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) enters the scene at this moment as one of the most critical elements of improving teacher quality. This paper provides a brief description of PCK, and its value and limitations in teacher education.

Recent science education standards emphasize the importance of the instruction of nature of science (NOS) concepts at all levels of schooling from pre-K to K-12. Delivering a proper NOS education to students is excessively dependent on their teachers with an adequate understanding of NOS concepts. The present study investigated the science conceptions of preschool and elementary teacher candidates. The data collected from a total of 506 prospective teachers were analyzed with respect to the following demographic variables: majors, genders, grade levels, high schools and GPAs of teacher candidates. "Student Understanding of Science and Scientific Inquiry (SUSSI)" developed originally by Liang et al. (2008) was the instrument used to collect data in this study. The data analyses were conducted using MANOVA and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The corresponding mean scores of the teacher candidates in specific aspects of NOS ranged from "poor" to "informed" conceptions of science. All but one of the demographic variables yielded statistically insignificant results on the NOS conceptions of teacher candidates. The majors of the teacher candidates were detected as a significant variable influencing the conceptions of the teacher candidates. The results of the study were discussed in reference with the relevant literature.

In this survey research study, the views of practicing teachers in select aspects of NOS were investigated in connection with the effects of several variables (teaching discipline, gender, education level, teaching experience and regional work location). The instrument used to collect data was an adapted version of "Scientific Epistemological Views" questionnaire originally developed by Liu and Tsai [45]. The data collected from a total of 647 in-service teachers was analyzed conducting MANOVA statistical test. The results revealed that the variable, 'teaching discipline', had a statistically significant multivariate effect on the overall NOS conceptions of the participant teachers. Teachers' mean scores exhibited a statistically significant difference in three out of five sub-dimensions of the questionnaire. The variables, "gender" and "education level", yielded a statistically insignificant result, which indicated the ineffectual nature of those variables on participant teachers' views of NOS concepts. The variables, "teaching experience" and "regional work location", were found to be statistically significant in only one of the sub-dimensions of the questionnaire. At the end of the paper, these results were discussed in connection with the relevant education literature.
