El artículo describe y analiza la validez de Viaje al Centro de la Radio como propuesta de alfabetización transmedia que pretende promover la cultura radiofónica entre los jóvenes en el entorno digital. Mediante una metodología mixta de corte cualitativo y cuantitativo se evidencia la eficacia de esta propuesta innovadora en una muestra de 120 estudiantes de ESO y Bachillerato de 10 centros escolares de Salamanca (España).
Este trabajo es una primera aproximación cuantitativa y cualitativa al fenómeno del pódcast en la prensa regional y local, su delimitación, sus características, sus tipologías y sus temáticas. A través de un análisis de contenido, se describe la oferta de producción de audio de los medios de matriz impresa y de las marcas centenarias en Castilla y León y Navarra. El objetivo es presentar el contenido periodístico en audio de los medios de proximidad como parte del proceso de transformación digital. El análisis concluye que, aunque la implantación de los pód-cast en los medios regionales estudiados se inicia de forma tardía en 2015, en la actualidad se incrementa de forma progresiva. Así, los pódcast son nuevos canales de comunicación especializada y de servicio para contar las noticias a través del audio, y abren nuevas oportunidades de negocio y de audiencias. Además, pueden extender el prestigio informativo de los profesionales y las marcas periodísticas en la diversidad de las plataformas digitales.
La investigación aborda el papel del diseño gráfico en la confección de los pódcast, un producto sonoro de notable repercusión en la actualidad cuyo desarrollo incluye una importante presencia de la imagen. Mediante el análisis de contenido como técnica metodológica, se realiza una primera aproximación a la estrategia gráfica de los pódcast de producción propia de las plataformas más populares en España. Las conclusiones apuntan a la relevancia de la identidad visual particular de cada programa, el papel simbólico de la imagen, la frecuente personalización gráfica de los distintos capítulos o la necesaria versatilidad para adaptar el mensaje a diferentes formatos.
En un escenario informativo definido por la abundancia de opciones, la capacidad persuasiva del diseño gráfico contribuye a orientar las decisiones del receptor e interviene, por tanto, en la eficacia del mensaje. Al mismo tiempo, en los últimos años se observa un importante crecimiento del pódcast, un producto sonoro en cuya identidad la confección visual adquiere una importancia notable. El presente estudio se detiene en la interacción entre ambas disciplinas comunicativas para analizar en qué medida la calidad visual de las carátulas de pódcast condiciona la preferencia (tanto positiva como negativamente; es decir, la elección y el descarte) por parte de los públicos. La metodología está conformada por dos fases: un juicio de expertos que recurre a cuatro profesionales del diseño gráfico para evaluar la calidad de los estímulos y una encuesta cuantitativa conformada por 12 carátulas de la plataforma Podium Podcast. Con una muestra final de 186 participantes, la investigación apunta a tres conclusiones, principalmente: no existe una correlación significativa entre la calidad visual de las carátulas y la respuesta de los sujetos, salvo en el rechazo hacia aquellas propuestas visuales manifiestamente más discretas; la percepción está condicionada por la confluencia de múltiples variables, como el título o el contenido del programa o su popularidad, criterios que se revelan más importantes que el diseño gráfico y que ayudan a comprender la diversidad de pareceres; y, por último, se observa una cierta influencia del nivel de conocimientos sobre comunicación visual en la apreciación de la calidad gráfica del producto.
La convergencia digital no solo ha modificado las lógicas de producción, difusión y distribución de contenidos audiovisuales, sino que está transformando la percepción de su naturaleza entre los más jóvenes: la omnipresencia de smartphones y tabletas como dispositivos dominantes de acceso a la información y el entretenimiento otorga mayor prevalencia a la imagen y al video sobre el sonido, hasta ahora ingrediente esencial y consustancial al lenguaje radiofónico. Tras exponer las razones estructurales que han motivado durante años la desatencióndel medio hertziano en España hacia el público infantil y adolescente, este artículo expone algunas iniciativas y experiencias modélicas de alfabetización sonora identificadas como ejemplos de buenas prácticas en un proyecto de investigación para generar una cultura radiofónica en niños y jóvenes desarrollado en la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca entre 2015 y 2017.
