El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar el uso potencial de los sub-productos del cultivo de la piña para su empleo en la dieta de animales rumiantes. Se realizó una recopilación y análisis estadístico de la información obtenida de diferentes investigaciones realizadas hasta el año 2013 a nivel mundial, para la caracterización nutricional de la piña: planta entera, rastrojo (hojas, hijos y tallo), corona, corazón, cáscara y pulpa de la fruta, tallo y raíces, para optimizar su uso en la alimentación de animales rumiantes. Se comparó el efecto que tiene el manejo que se proporciona a los subproductos, siendo las variables de esta comparación, el proceso de ensilaje, el secado o el material fresco sin ningún tipo de aditivo. La composición nutricional de los materiales varió de acuerdo a la parte de la planta. Las raíces presentaron el mayor contenido de materia seca, fibra detergente neutro, fibra detergente ácido, lignina y cenizas. Mientras que las coronas y los rastrojos mostraron mayores contenidos de proteína cruda y energía, pero menor contenido de materia seca. Hubo una diferencia entre el proceso de deshidratado y el material fresco o ensilado, no así entre los materiales con alto contenido de humedad. Los subproductos obtenidos de los sistemas de producción de piña, tuvieron contenidos de energía y nutrimentos que permitirían su utilización como parte de la ración en la alimentación de rumiantes sin perjudicar su desempeño productivo.
<p>El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el efecto de incluir heno como mejorador de la MS y urea como fuente de nitrógeno no proteico (NNP) en la capacidad fermentativa y valor nutricional de ensilajes de coronas de piña como alimento para rumiantes. El trabajo fue realizado utilizando la técnica de micro silos en bolsas de 1kg. Se establecieron 2 niveles de urea (0, 0,5 % p/p en base fresca), 4 niveles de heno (0, 10, 20, 30 % p/p en base fresca) y un único nivel de inóculo bacterial (1 L/ton) para todos los tratamientos. Conforme se incrementa el contenido de heno en la mezcla ensilada se reduce el pH obtenido y el contenido de NH3/NT, lo que asegura una adecuada conservación del material, mayores contenidos de heno se asociaron con mayor contenido de MS, que mejora el aporte de nutrimentos, sin embargo, también aumenta los contenidos de FDN, FDA y CEN, lo que podría reducir la capacidad de consumo y la digestibilidad de los ensilados. La inclusión de urea permite mejorar el contenido de PC utilizando nitrógeno no proteico, no obstante conforme se aumenta la inclusión de heno en los ensilados así disminuye el contenido de PC, obteniéndose una reducción entre 4,6 – 34 % en el contenido de PC de los ensilados. Todas las fracciones de la energía disminuyen conforme aumenta el contenido de heno en los tratamientos. De acuerdo al contenido de FDN los tratamientos podrían ser consumidos a razón de 7,99 – 9,17 kg MS día<sup>-1</sup>. La degradabilidad de la PC de los tratamientos fluctuó entre 71 y 88 % h<sup>-1</sup>. Se realizaron simulaciones para determinar el potencial productivo de los materiales ensilados de acuerdo al consumo y aporte de PC y de EN<sub>L</sub>, se determinó que los tratamientos ensilados podrían producir entre 0,34 – 7,65kg leche vaca<sup>-1</sup> día<sup>-1</sup>.</p>
Introducción. Los pastos tropicales poseen mayor contenido de fibra en proporción con otros nutrientes, esto limita el consumo de materia seca por parte de los rumiantes. El uso de aditivos en el ensilaje permite optimizar el contenido nutricional en los forrajes que pueden conservarse para utilizarlos en momentos de menor disponibilidad forrajera. Objetivo. El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el efecto de sustituir en ensilados, porcentajes de pasto Megathyrsus maximus cv Mombaza por fruto inmaduro de guineo cuadrado (Musa ABB) y urea. Materiales y métodos. El experimento se desarrolló entre agosto y diciembre de 2016. Se utilizó un diseño factorial con ocho tratamientos. Las mezclas se almacenaron durante sesenta días en bolsas de 5,0 kg. Resultados. El uso de fruto de guineo cuadrado produjo incremento del pH, el nitrógeno amoniacal, y la urea. El fruto también aumentó la concentración de materia seca y carbohidratos no fibrosos, esto mejoró el valor relativo del forraje y el contenido de energía. La urea mejoró en diez unidades porcentuales el contenido de proteína cruda, debido a su aporte de nitrógeno no proteico. El contenido de energía de los tratamientos varió entre 59,5 y 63,6%TND, y la mayor energía se obtuvo en los tratamientos con mayor uso de fruto de guineo cuadrado. Conclusión. Los ensilados con 30% de sustitución con fruto de guineo cuadrado y 0,5 - 1,0% de urea, se pueden considerar una alternativa para alimentación de rumiantes, como complemento de una dieta balanceada.
