The specific researches focused on biology teacher candidates in nowadays outbreak/pandemic (COVID-19) condition are very scarce. This study aimed to describe the profile of COVID-19 literacy level possessed by biology teacher candidate students in Indonesia. The data in this survey research was collected between January and March, 2020. The selected location was Malang, one of education city and was announced as the red zone for COVID-19 spread. The total sample were 290 students. The data collection employed the questionnaire, contained of three parts i.e. information of respondent's identity, profile of information resource, attaining time profile of COVID-19 related information, and COVID-19 literacy level. The students' literacy scores were analyzed using ANOVA to analyze the presence of student's years' effect on COVID-19 literacy of biology teacher candidate students. As a result, students' years do not have a significant effect on their COVID-19 literacy. Most students had heard of COVID-19 before the disease was reported to enter Indonesia, but only few students were categorized in high level. The campus should respond immediately to these results, considering that students act as agents of information for those around them.
Based on the priority problem, we need an effective and appropriate solution to develop the students’ ethical behaviour of state junior high school 8 of Malang (SJHS/SMPN 8). This article aims to describe the implementation teacher mentoring activities in developing students' ethical behavior based on OIDDE learning model. The subject in this devotion were teachers, which consists of master teachers amounted to 10 people and other teachers amounted to 46 people. The activity was held for 8 months. In addressing the problems faced by partner schools, work procedures and methods of implementation of community development program that have been discussed and agreed with both partner schools, FGDs, workshops, direct practice, dissemination, and evaluation. The programs has been conducted, with activities in the form of: equation of perception, OIDDE learning workshop (speech by headmaster, exposure of executing chairman, essentials concepts (active learning development, character, authentic assessment), OIDDE model and examples, discussions, mentoring of learning tools, open class, and evaluation.
Clungup Mangrove Conservation (CMC) is a new ecotourism destination managed by a community group called 'Bhakti Alam Sendang Biru'. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the 5 principles of Community-based Ecotourism in the management of CMC, namely: (1) Conservation principle (Nature conservation principle, 6 criterias and culture conservation, 4 criterias), (2) Community participation principle (7 criterias), (3) Economic principle (5 criterias), (4) Education principle (5 criterias), and (5) Tourism principle (6 criterias). This research method is descriptive qualitative. Source of the data obtained are primary data obtained through observation to the site to conduct an interview to the informants and secondary data obtained through the study of literature and documents. The data obtained were processed with descriptive techniques. The results showed that in general the 5 principles of community-based ecotourism have been implemented in the management of CMC although some criteria for each principle there is not yet implemented, is being planned, pursued, and optimized.
The aim of this research was to (1) compare the effectiveness of OIDDE (Orientation, Identify, Discussion, Decision, and Engage in Behavior) learning model and conventional learning models in improving bioethics knowledge; (2) compare the effectiveness of OIDDE learning model and conventional learning models in improving ethical decision-making abilities; (3) comparing the effectiveness of OIDDE learning model and conventional learning model in improving ethical attitudes. The research design was a quasi experimental non-equivalent control group design pre-test post-test. The research population was the second semester students of the biology pre-service teachers’ department of biology education of the FTTE Muhammadiyah University of Malang. Sampling was done by simple random sampling and obtained 76 students were devided into 37 students in the experimental group and 39 students in the control group. Data collecting is carried out through bioethical knowledge tests, and ethical decision- making, and scoring of ethical attitudes. Data were analyzed by ANCOVA, Kolmogorv-Smirnov, and unpaired T test. The results showed that there were significant differences in the effectiveness of achieving improved bioethics knowledge, ethical decision making, and ethical attitudes between OIDDE and conventional learning models, namely the effectiveness of OIDDE learning models higher than conventional learning models.
