A series of new di-, tri-, and tetranuclear Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes of three new diSchiff base ligands were synthesized by two different methods. The first method involved the synthesis of the three ligands from condensation reaction of 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde (L′H2) with ethylenediamine (en), o-phenylenediamine (o-PD), or 4,5-dimethyl-1,2-phenylendiamine (DMPD) in a mole ratio of 2 : 1 followed by the reaction of the resulting Schiff bases ligands with Cu(II) or Co(II) ions in the presence of 2,2′-bipyridyl (L) to form the di- and trinuclear metal complexes. The second method involved the condensation of the copper complex LCu(II)L′ (L = 2,2′-bipyridyl, L′ = 4-formylbenzene-1,2-bis(olate)) with en, o-PD, or DMPD in a mole ratio of 2 : 1, respectively, followed by reaction with CuCl2 or Cu(ClO4)2 to form di-, tri-, and tetranuclear copper (II) complexes, respectively. The structures of the ligands and metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, NMR, and FTIR spectra. The geometries of metal complexes were suggested according to elemental analysis, electronic spectra, thermal analyses, atomic absorption, and magnetic moments and conductivity measurements.

Three new Schiff bases of N-substituted isatin LI, LII, and LIII = Schiff base of N-acetylisatin, N-benzylisatin, and N-benzoylisatin, respectively, and their metal complexes C1a,b = [Co2(LI)2Cl3]Cl, C2 = [Ni(LI)2Cl2]0.4BuOH, C3 = [CuLICl(H2O)]Cl ⋅ 0.5BuOH, C4 = [Pd(LI)2Cl]Cl, C5 = [Pt(L1)2Cl2]Cl2 ⋅ 1.8EtOH.H2O, C6a = [CoLIICl]Cl ⋅ 0.4H2O ⋅ 0.3DMSO, C6b = [CoLIICl]Cl ⋅ 0.3H2O ⋅ 0.1BuOH, C7 = [NiLIICl2], C8 = [CuLII]Cl2 ⋅ H2O , C9 = [Pd(LII)2]Cl2, C10 = [Pt(LII)2.5Cl]Cl3, C11a = [Co(LIII)]C12 ⋅ H2O, C11b = [Co(LIII)]Cl2 ⋅ 0.2H2O, and C12 = [Ni(LIII)2]Cl2, C13 = [Ni(LIII)2]Cl2 were reported. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, metal and chloride content, spectroscopic methods, magnetic moments, conductivity measurements, and thermal studies. Some of these compounds were tested as antibacterial and antifungal agents against Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus niger.

Two new ligands derived from 2-aminophenol have been prepared. The first ligand (boron compound) L 1 was prepared by refluxing one mole of sodium borohydride with two mole of 2-aminophenol in a mixture of methanol: acetone (2:1) .The second ligand (Schiff base) L 2 was prepared by refluxing equimolar from 4-bromoacetophenone and 2-aminophenol in methanol: acetone (2:1). Cu (II) and Pt (IV) complexes of ligands have been also prepared. The ligands and their metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity and spectral studies of FTIR, 1 H, 13 CNMR, thermal analysis, UV-VIS, as well as atomic absorption and magnetic susceptibility of metal complexes. All prepared compounds were tested as antibacterial agents against gram negative bacteria (E-coli)and gram positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus).

Synthesis, Characterization and biological study of two Schiff base ligands derived from 2-aminophenol and 4-bromoacetophenone (1:1) (L 1 ) and boron Schiff base which was derived from L 1 and sodium borohydride (1:1) (L 2 ). Cu(II) and Pt(IV) complexes of the Schiff base ligands were synthesized. The prepared compounds have been investigated by molar conductivity, elemental analysis, FTIR, 1 H, 13 CNMR, thermal analysis, UV-Vis, as well as atomic absorption and magnetic susceptibility. The biological study of the ligands and their metal complexes were carried out against E-coli, Staphylococcus aureus,as bacteria species, Candida and My crosporium Canisas fungi.

New tripodal ligand sodium[2,2',2''-((λ4-boranetriyl)tris(1 H-indole-1,3-diyl))tri acetic acid]hydrate (BIAA) was synthesized by the reaction of heteroauxin (indole -3- acetic acid) with sodium tetrahydroborate in 3:1 mole ratio. The ligand was characterized by elemental analysis, spectral studies such as FTIR, UV-Vis., 1HNMR and thermal analysis spectra, the results were agreement with the proposed structure. The coordination property of the ligand was studied through preparation of two metal complexes with Ni(II) and Cu(II) in 2:1 (L:M) mole ratio. Depending on elemental analysis, FTIR , UV-Vis. spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements , atomic absorption and molar conductivity of metal complexes ,the suggested geometry of nickel and copper complexes were octahedral structures
