ManglietiaglaucaManglid ( BI) merupakan tanaman andalan Jawa Barat, Indonesia, karena cepat tumbuh dan banyak kegunaannya, namun teknik pembibitan khususnya secara vegetatif belum dikuasai. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh 6 dosis hormon Rootone-F terhadap kemampuan hidup dan pertumbuhan stek pucuk manglid. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah (CRD) dengan 6 perlakuan yaitu kontrol (tanpa hormon), Rootone-F 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 500 ppm dan dioles. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian Rootone-F 100 ppm menghasilkan jumlah tunas tertinggi dibanding perlakuan lain (peningkatan 55% terhadap kontrol), panjang akar tertinggi sebesar 8,85 cm (peningkatan 34,46% dibanding kontrol) dan jumlah akar terbanyak sebesar 6,75 buah (peningkatan 40,74% dibanding kontrol). Pada parameter persentase hidup pemberian Rootone-F dioles menghasilkan nilai tertinggi yaitu 22,68 % dan tidak berbeda nyata dengan pemberian Rootone-F 100 ppm (20,68%). ABSTRACT
Arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea L.) is an important starchy plant which has potential utilization for food, industry and medicine. The study was undertaken to assess the variability in morpho-physiological characters, tuber yield and starch content of 23 arrowroot populations in Garut District, West Java. The result showed some significant differences in morpho-physiological characteristics, tuber yield and starch content. Growth characteristics revealed that Cilawu population recorded the highest values for some characters: high, leaf number, abovegrowth biomass and tuber biomass. Cikajang population showed the highest tuber yield (210.6 g per plant) followed by Cilawu population (134 g per plant). Cikajang and Cilawu populations also provided the highest tuber biomass, 46.6 g and 60.0 g respectively. Cilawu population was a second population producing the highest starch content (26.1 %) after Cibatu population (27 %). The higher heritability coupled with genetic advance revealed for fresh tuber yield indicated that selection on basis of the character may be helpful to improve arrowroot yield. Most of the growth characteristics had not significant correlation indicating that the characteristics are not good indicator for selection. Cilawu, Cikajang and Cibatu populations have good potential to produce the high quality and quantity of tuber for arrowroot cultivation in Garut District.
The research is aimed at studying effect of decreasing moisture content to the response of physiological and biochemical of Rhizophora apiculata Bl. propagules. Decreasing of moisture content is done through desiccation and storage at two (2) storage room in different temperature. Decreasing propagules moisture content by desiccation for 1, 2 and 3 weeks; storing the propagules conventionally. Completely randomized design was used with one factor for the first trial and two factors for the second trial (environment and period of storage). The variables of observation were germination percentage, germination rate and germination value, whereas variables of biochemistry were contents of starch, fat, protein and leachate conductivity. The results showed that desiccation and storage brought about the germination viability following desiccation and storage periods. Up to 3 weeks of desiccation period, propagules moisture content was 31.72% and it did not yet show the critical moisture content and germination percentage was still very high (86.67%). Storing of R. apiculata propagules with moisture content of 54.02% in ambient room (28-29 C) could manage the germination percentage up to 29%, germination rate 0.26 per etmal and germination value 0.02 for 8 weeks. Penurunan kadar air dilakukan melalui pengeringan dan penyimpanan pada dua (2) suhu ruang simpan. Penurunan kadar air propagul dengan cara pengeringan selama 1, 2 dan 3 minggu; Penyimpanan propagul secara konvensional. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan berupa Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan satu faktor untuk percobaan pertama dan dua faktor untuk percobaan yang kedua (kondisi dan periode simpan). Parameter fisiologi yang diamati meliputi daya berkecambah, kecepatan berkecambah dan nilai perkecambahan, sedangkan parameter biokimia meliputi kandungan pati, lemak, protein dan daya hantar listrik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pengeringan dan penyimpanan menyebabkan penurunan viabilitas propagul sejalan dengan makin lamanya periode pegeringan dan penyimpanan. Sampai pengeringan selama 3 minggu, kadar air propagul mencapai 31,72% dan belum menunjukkan kadar air kritis dan daya berkecambah propagul masih cukup tinggi (86,67%). Penyimpanan propagul (kadar air awal 54,02%) dalam ruang kamar dapat mempertahankan daya berkecambah hingga 29%, kecepatan berkecambah 0,26% per etmal dan nilai perkecambahan 0,02 selama 8 minggu. Kandungan biokimia propagul cenderung meningkat dengan makin lamanya periode pengeringan dan penyimpanan.
A major problem usually encountered during seed procurement of seeds is low vigor of long term stored seed, affecting in turn the success of outplanting. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of density krasikarpa (Acacia crassicarpa) seeds on the growth of their germinants in sowing bed. A completely randomized design with a single factor (i.e. seed densities) was used in this experiment. The density was arranged in 6 levels, which were predetermined based on the percentage of normal germinants of various seed lots. This variation was obtained through seed-ageing treatment at 6 durations, i.e. 0, 72, 120, 192, 216, and 240 hours (as devigoration levels). From each of those six levels seed density was measured, thereby acquiring in all 6 densities ranging from 50-66 seeds per 600 cm 2 area. It turned out that ageing treatment (devigoration levels) for 240 hours caused decrease in percentage by about 23% in comparison with the control (without ageing or at zero-hour ageing). Further, the different seed densities did not significantly affect vigor status of germinant, growth rate, growth uniformity/simultaneity, and delta value as well as the score-based nursery success. The decrease in seed vigor (devigoration) as much as 19-20% could be overcome by increasing density as much as 16 seeds per 600 cm 2 area. In general, the germinant of krasikarpa seeds still belonged to the normal criteria (N), i.e. strongly normal (K) and less strong (KK), suggesting the potential survival rate of seedling in the field. This grouping implies the possibility of seed to survive in the field.
Perbanyakan tanaman ganitri secara generatif mengalami hambatan karena terjadinya dormansi kulit sehingga benih sulit untuk berkecambah. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan bibit adalah melalui perbanyakan secara vegetatif dengan stek pucuk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan tumbuh stek pucuk ganitri ( ) pada aplikasi antara media dan hormon tumbuh di persemiaan. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan pola faktorial 4 x 4. Faktor A adalah media tumbuh yang terdiri dari : A . Pasir, A . pasir : arang sekam (1 : 1), A . pasir : sabut kelapa (1 : 1) dan A . sabut kelapa : arang sekam (1 : 1), faktor B adalah hormon /zat pengatur tumbuh (ZPT) IAAyang terdiri dari : B . 0 ppm; B . 100 ppm; B . 200 ppm dan B . 300 ppm, setiap kombinasi perlakuan diulang tiga (3) kali serta masing-masing ulangan terdiri dari 15 stek. Parameter yang diamati adalah persen hidup, keberhasilan pembentukkan tunas (jumlah dan berat kering), perakaran (jumlah, panjang dan berat kering). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media tumbuh pasir dan zat pengatur tumbuh IAA ppm 300 ppm (A B ) memberikan pertumbuhan terbaik dibandingkan kombinasi perlakuan yang lain. Hal tersebut ditunjukkan dengan persen hidup, jumlah tunas, jumlah akar, panjang akar berat kering akar berat kering tunas yang lebih tinggi yaitu berturut-turut 97,77%; 5,66 buah; 4,66 buah; 14,35 cm; 0,67 gram dan 1,57 gram. ABSTRACT Generative propagation of (ganitri) have barrier because of bark dormant with the result that seed is hard to be germinated. One of method to fulfill seedling requirement is vegetative propagation by shoot cutting. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of media and growth hormone on shoot cutting growth of Elaeocarpus ganitrus in nursery. A group completely randomized design 4 x 4 was used in this experiment. The main factors are growth media (A) and growth hormone IAA (B).
