Brushing is an important activity in a day to day life. It helps to keep our oral cavity healthy. A brushing simulator is a machine that holds the toothbrush and helps to check various activities done with it. Brushing helps to clean the teeth, tongue, gums, and place a major role in maintaining dental hygiene. Dental plaque is removed by this process. This is a computer program mission where everything is done using the software. The aim of the survey was to assess the knowledge about the brushing simulator among dentists in Chennai. A questionnaire regarding simulator was created and circulated to dentists in Chennai, a total of 13 questions were created and a total of 135 responses were received. The data obtained was with SPSS and represented with the help of pie charts and graphs. When comparing the awareness of brushing simulator with gender, it was shown that females had a higher level of awareness about the brushing simulator when compared with males (p = 0.029), which was statistically significant. When comparing the knowledge about the uses of brushing simulators with gender, it was shown that females had a higher level of knowledge about the uses of brushing simulators when compared with males. p = 0.013), which was statistically significant. When comparing the knowledge about the types of brushing simulator movements with gender, it was shown that females had a higher level of knowledge when compared with males.(p= 0.034), which was statistically significant. The knowledge and view varied for each question. Brushing force is usually higher for sonic toothbrush and with manual toothbrush dentin face the highest abrasion when compared to the enamel. People are aware of the simulation of brushing, but not about the brushing simulator machine.
COVID-19 is a major disaster that has occurred in the year 2020. Most natural disasters are more common among developed countries, but Coronavirus affects almost all countries. Evidence states that this originated in Wuhan, China. It is a respiratory infection that has its rate of spread higher than all other diseases in this world. The symptoms of this disease are fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty in breathing, and many other respiratory problems. All these make it difficult for a person affected with Coronavirus to survive. To date, no effective vaccine has been found to combat this lethal virus, or even medicine has been discovered to cure this disease. Hydroxychloroquine is just a drug for temporary use and it doesn't cure the disease. Preventive measures have to be followed to reduce its spread. Quarantine is one among them, that is keeping yourself away from others and staying home, social distancing and washing your hands is very important. The lockdown initiated by the government has to be strictly followed to reduce the rate of spread. All these measures have to be taken to prevent the reappearance of this deadly disease. It's a tragedy that has shaken the entire world. Considerations have to be given to cardiovascular insurance during treatment for COVID-19. A favorable line can be used in severe cases when indicated, but its efficacy needs further evaluation.
The oral screen is a versatile and simple myofunctional instrument that is used to treat dental arc deformities early in the interception. A lip training device was described as an oral screen. Oral screens can be used for people who have bad habits such as mouth breathing, chewing nails, big overjet and lip muscle hypotonus. A sample of 4355 patients of age 6-12 years visiting the hospital were taken. We reviewed patients’ records, analysed data of 7415 patients between June 2020 to March 2021 and clinical findings are recorded. Out of the sample size 4355,260 patients in the hospital database were diagnosed with orthodontic deformities and use of oral screen was recommended. The data is then tabulated in Microsoft Excel. Chi square test is used for comparison of groups. The data is analysed with the help of SPSS software. In this study we observed that 3.8% of the total patients (260) showed incidence of undergoing treatment using oral screen. Prevalence of oral screen appliance is observed to be more in age groups between 10-12 years followed by 6-9 years. Within the limitations of the study, 0.2% of the children visiting university hospital have undergone treatment using oral screen appliances.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
