Global production of glyphosate-resistant (GR) soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]
Pig farming wastewater (PFW) can be used as fertilizer due to its characteristics. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of applying pig farming wastewater on chemical properties of Dystric Nitosol and on elephant grass (Pennistum purpureum Schum) production. An experiment was carried out in field conditions consisted of five treatments plus control. , Ca +2 concentrations were obtained in the soil before and after PFW application. Phosphorus concentration in the soil increased as a function of PFW application rates increase. Al +3 concentration decreased. PFW application did not influence plant height and dry mass production of the grass.

This research investigated the efficiency and residual effects of two solid organomineral fertilizers on corn (Zea mays L.) shoot dry matter (SDM), P uptake, P recovery index, P use efficiency index, accumulated SDM (ASDM), and total P uptake. This was a greenhouse pot study where organomineral‐granulated (OG) fertilizer, organomineral‐pelletized (OM) fertilizer, and inorganic fertilizer mix (MM) were tested on a Eutropherric Red Latossol clay soil (Oxisol). Phosphorus (P) rates were 0, 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg kg−1. Two plants were grown in each pot for 35 d before harvest; this cropping cycle was repeated consecutively four times on the same pots. Corn SDM for OM in the first cropping cycle was three times lower than for OG and MM at the highest P rate, was similar among all sources in the second and third cycles, and in the last cropping cycle was on average two times higher for the OM and MM compared with OG. Tissue P uptake was on average 50% greater for OM and MM than for OG. Corn ASDM and total P uptake were significantly greater (on average 35% for ASDM and 40% for total P uptake) with MM and OM than with OG for the majority of the rates. The P recovery index was the same in the first cropping cycle among all sources; however, it was significantly higher (60% on average) for MM and OM in the last two cycles than for OG. No difference in P use efficiency of corn plants was observed between fertilizer sources. Organomineral fertilizers made with different techniques yield fertilizers with different P availability. We observed a different residual effect among the mineral and organomineral fertilizers. The P release kinetics of the mineral fertilizer are different compared with the organomineral. The P content extracted by water in the fertilizers is the main index of the phosphate fertilizer efficiency.
The objectives of this work were to evaluate the management of N and S (as ammonium sulphate) fertilization under notillage system on the components of maize productivity and on N and S accumulation in the crop, as well as to evaluate the minimum value of the Nitrogen Sufficiency Index (NSI 0.95) as an indicator for side dressing requirements. The experiment had a completely randomized block design with six treatments and four replications carried out in Red Latosol dystrophic soil (Hapludox), in Campo Mourão, Paraná State, where the following treatments in summer growth maize were applied: T1-120 kg ha -1 N in seeding; T2-120 kg ha -1 N in side dressing; T3-40 kg ha -1 N in seeding and 80 kg ha -1 N in side dressing; T4-30 kg ha -1 N in seeding and 90 kg ha -1 N in side dressing, monitored by a chlorophyll meter using the Nitrogen Sufficiency Index (NSI); T5-120 kg ha -1 N anticipated in wheat seeding; T6-without nitrogen fertilization. NSI was determined by the relationship between the leaf chlorophyll index (ICF) average of T4 plants and that one in the plot fertilized with 120 kg ha -1 N at the maize seed sowing (T1). During two years, ammonium sulphate was applied to the maize crop after wheat under no tillage system. In the first year, with adequate rainfall, the maize yield was similar to the one in which the complete ammonium sulphate dose application was done in maize seeding and side dressing. The anticipated fertilization to wheat seed sowing resulted in maize yield without difference from the parceled form. In the second year, with irregular rainfall, all treatments with N were similar and they increased maize yield compared to that without N fertilization. NSI of 0.95 was not efficient to evaluate maize N requirements in side dressing, and resulted in lower maize yield. N was accumulated mainly in the grains unlike S that accumulated in the plant shoots; both were highly correlated to maize productivity.Key words: Zea mays, Triticum aestivum, fertilizer management, nitrogen, sulfur. Application impact of maturate effluent of cassava industry on soil and sorghum culture (Sorghum bicolor). The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the behavior of sorghum culture submitted to portions of maturate effluent of cassava industry. Thus, this study was carried out at Centro Técnico de Irrigação (Technical Irrigation Center) of Universidade Estadual de Maringá (State University of Maringá), state of Paraná, Brazil. Maturate effluent samples were collected from a lagoon, whose depth was not up to 0.50m. Lysimeters of 1.0m 3 volume and 2.0m 2 area were applied to a sorghum culture. The utilized experimental design was composed of blocks at random in three treatments and six replications. The treatments were consisted of an application of: 150, 450 and 900m 3 ha -1 portions per year of mature effluent. The mature effluent from cassava industry supplied the nutritional necessities, which were required by sorghum for its entire development and production of green matter (or dry matter). A positive reply in growth, considering the entire process, in which the maximum portion added to sorghum culture was 450m 3 ha -1, was verified. Otherwise, the elements of variable senescent leaves showed a negative correlation compared to others. A fertilizing effect of effluent was verified and analyzed according to the growth of the sorghum culture in relation to the macronutrients by potassium increase.
