A Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) é uma modalidade de ensino que tem funções reparadora e equalizadora, oportunizando o retorno de jovens e adultos à educação escolar. Diante do exposto, o trabalho objetivou analisar o perfil dos alunos de turmas da EJA (4ª Etapa -8º e 9º Ano do Ensino Fundamental; e 1ª e 2ª Etapa (1°, 2° e 3° do Ensino Médio), de uma escola pública parceira do Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID): a fim de compreender as suas motivações, expectativas e limitações. Nesta pesquisa, foi utilizada um questionário semiestruturado com 20 questões abertas e fechadas aplicados à 46 alunos. De acordo com o questionário, verifica-se que ~50% dos entrevistados já estão na fase adulta, entre 22 a 60 anos. A outra metade dos entrevistados estão na faixa etária de 15 a 21. 58% dos entrevistados estavam desempregados, e em algum momento tiveram que parar os estudos pelos variados motivos: gravidez, necessidade de trabalhar, etc. Contudo, estes alunos veem na EJA a oportunidade de garantir a inserção no mercado de trabalho. Portanto, a pesquisa contribui para a compreensão das especificidades da EJA e de seus sujeitos, de modo que insira o estudante como sujeito do processo.
