Thematic learning is considered as efficient as the students taught learn in coherent context and holistic way, as well as associate the concepts they learnt with their surrounding and real-life examples. The aim of the study was to identify the effectiveness of the problem-based thematic learning module prototype to improve students' critical thinking skills. This research and development were conducted based on Borg and Gall model. The module effectiveness was tested using pre-experimental design. The sampling technique used was cluster random sample which employed as many as 33 students in which the data collection technique used was test. The data gained was analyzed using paired sample t-test. The results showed that the students' post-test score of critical thinking skills were significantly differed from their pre-test score. Therefore, the developed module can improve student critical thinking skills effectively. Moreover, it is suggested that teacher should apply a mixed method of teaching as it helps to strengthen students' critical thinking skills.
The objective of the study is to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes through the media Magic Box (Magic Box) Based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) on the concept of addition. The subject of the research was class I students in one of the Public Elementary Schools in Surakarta City Semester I of 2018/2019 Academic Year as many as 24 students, consisting of 7 male students and 17 female students. The method of the study was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with patterns: planning, implementing, observing, reflecting, and revising. The data were collected by using discussion, observation, tests, field notes, and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it was found that student learning outcomes had increased from cycle I to cycle II. The cycle I was 70.83%, and cycle II was 91.66%. The conclusion of the study is by using instructional media teaching aids Magic Box (Magic Box) Based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) on the concept of addition theory can improve student learning outcomes in first-grade elementary schools in Surakarta City Semester I in the Academic Year of 2018/2019.
The objective of this study is to develop STEAM-based learning media (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) in grade 1 thematic learning to improve critical thinking skills and the culture of scientific literacy in grade 1 students. This media was developed based on the STEAM approach, as the result of the use of media through the syntax of analizing, synthesizing, drawing conclusions, and organizing strategies and tactics. The excellence of this innovative work focuses on improving critical thinking skills and scientific literacy. This type of research is research and development (Research and Development) with ADDIE design (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Based on the results of the study before using STEAM-based colored two-dimensional Figure Mixing media, it was identified that the mean class of students' critical thinking skills was 74.80 and the mean science literacy class was 73.61. After using STEAM-based typewriter media it can be identified that the mean class of students' critical thinking skills was 86.67 and the mean science literacy class was 88.67. The results of this study prove that STEAM-based non-typed media developed can improve students' critical thinking skills so that it has a positive impact on scientific literacy. This study concludes that new learning media developed can improve the activeness of students and ultimately have a positive impact on student learning outcomes.
Abstrak harus mencerminkan keseluruhan substansi isi artikel dan mampu membantu pembaca untuk menentukan relevansinya dengan minat serta memutuskan apakah akan membaca dokumen secara keseluruhan. Abstrak berisi pernyataan tentang latar belakang masalah, tujuan penelitian atau fokus masalah, metode atau tahapan penting penelitian, serta temuan dan simpulan utama. Abstrak disajikan dalam dua bahasa, yaitu bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris dengan panjang antara 150-200 kata. Abstrak ditulis dalam huruf miring, spasi 1, ukuran 10,5, dengan menggunakan Font Book Antiqua serta mencantumkan antara 3-5 kata kunci. Kata kunci berisi istilah penting dan substansi naskah. Kata kunci dapat diambil dari variabel penelitian. Kata kunci bukan berupa singkatan atau akronim kreasi penulis.
The objective of the study is to reveal the improvement in student learning outcomes in the use of instructional media teaching aids on STEM-Based Volcano Eruption Simulation (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) on the theme of Thematic Class I learning natural events. This research was conducted on first-grade students of Public Elementary School of Laweyan Surakarta City in the Second Semester of 2018/2019 Academic Year. The number of students was 25 students, consisting of 8 male students and 17 female students. The study was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with patterns: planning, implementing, observing, reflecting, revising. The data were collected through the method of discussion, observation, tests, field notes, and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it was found that student learning outcomes had increased learning outcomes, they were, the first cycle (79.60%) and the second cycle (84.00%). The study was concluded as through the use of instructional media for teaching aids of STEM-Based Volcano Eruption Simulation (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) on the theme of natural events Class I can improve the learning outcomes of Class I students of Public Elementary School of Laweyan Surakarta City Semester II in the Academic Year of 2018/2019.
Masa Pandemi memberikan dampak yang sangat besar terhadap pola belajar. Kegiatan belajar peserta didik yang semula harus totalitas dilakukan oleh guru dan peserta didik di dalam kelas kini harus bergeser dengan pola belajar dengan Pembelajaran Tatap Muka Terbatas . Pembelajaran Tatap Muka Terbatas memberikan tantangan bagi guru dalam menyusun rencana belajar yang padat namun memberikan dampak belajar yang bermakna agar tidak terjadi learning loss. Pembelajaran yang kreatif dan inovatif dalam mengatasi learning loss sangat penting bagi guru. Guru harus mampu menciptakan media belajar yang kreatif dan inovatif agar memberikan dampak dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar beserta didik. Secara didaktis psikologis media pembelajaran sangat membantu perkembangan psikologis anak dalam hal belajar. Media belajar dapat diciptakan guru sendiri sebagai hasil inovasi dan kreatifitas guru sehingga mudah diimplementasikan kepada peserta didik. Media Si Pagar Air (Simulasi Perubahan Benda Padat, Gas dan Cair) merupakan salah satu media hasil inovasi dan kreatifitas guru untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik dalam mencegah terjadinya learning loss. Dalam implementasinya media Si Pagar Air disampaikan guru melalui sintaks pembelajaran Blended Learning. Blended Learning merupakan model pembelajaran yang mengkombinasikan antara pembelajaran tata muka dan pembelajaran secara daring. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, survey pelaksanaan kegiatan diperoleh hasil data bahwa melalui penggunaan media Si Pagar Air berbasis observasi, survey dapat meningkatkan keterampilan literasi sains siswa
The ecosystem is a lesson that studies the interrelationships between the living and the environment both biotic components and abiotic interplay. Students are required to understand the interaction between living things and life form a unity, order and material characteristics of a complex ecosystem, abstract and difficult to understand, especially for elementary school students. This study aims to 1) how to package the ecosystem material into modules that are easy to understand the student in the learning ecosystem. 2) to improve the skills of critical thinking on the matter ecosystems. Quasi-experimental research methods post-test study design with only non-equivalent control group design. Participants do research at State Primary School Surakarta with sample amounted to 66 students. The sampling technique is cluster random sampling. The collection of data by the method of test and non-test. The results showed that the effect size was large criteria, meaning ecosystem-based modules problembased learning models provide a large positive impact influence on contribution. It can be concluded that an ecosystem can be packaged into modules with the resulting models are thematic learning modules-based ecosystem theme of problem-based learning so easy to understand the student in the learning ecosystem. Implementation of thematic learning modules-based ecosystem theme of problem-based learning can improve students' critical thinking skills in the ecosystem material.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan media Ispring Suite berbasis mobile learning untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada pembelajaran matematika khususnya siswa kelas 3 sekolah dasar. Media Ispring Suit adalah media perangkat lunak (software) yang terintergrasi dalam menu power point. Hasil media Ispring Suit yang dihasilkan dapat dioperasikan dengan menggunakan android sehingga dalam implementasinya menggunakan sintaks pembelajaran mobile learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif diskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan portofolio. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 3 SD Negeri Laweyan No.54 Kota Surakarta. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan diskripsi bahwa penggunaan media Ispring Suit berbasis mobile learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil penilaian proses keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas 3 khususnya pada pembelajaran matematika meningkat dari rata – rata 71,55 menjadi 83,55. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media Ispring Suite berbasis mobile learning pada pembelajaran matematika kelas 3 sekolah dasar memberikan dampak positif terhadap keterampilan berpikir krisis siswa yang akhirnya juga berdampak pada peningkatan hasil belajar siswa.
