Introduction: The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) considers multiples aspects of functionality. It is believed that this tool can help to classify the functionality of older adults with low back pain (LBP). Objectives: To describe the functionality of active older adults with LBP according to the ICF. Methods: A transversal study was conducted using the brief ICF core set for low back pain, to establish functional profiles of 40 older adults. The ICF categories were considered valid when ≥20% of participants showed some disability. Results: Thirty-two of the 35 categories of the brief ICF core set could be considered representative of the sample. Conclusion: The brief ICF core set for LBP results demonstrated that this classification system is representative for describing the functional profile of the sample.
Objectives:Fisioter Mov. 2010 out/dez;23(4):663-72 de Souza VFF, Dubiela Â, Serrão Jr NF. 664 This work had for general objective to carry through a bibliographical research on the effect of the physical therapy treatment in the daily before eclampsia and, in specifi c, to evaluate the effect of the physical therapy treatment in the reduction of the arterial pressure in pregnancy that present risk factors to develop the daily before eclampsia. Methodology: The October of 2005 was carried through a bibliographical research in the period of November of 2009, having as source of research electronic Bireme, Portal of Search databases, and particular library. Results: Twenty-one references between books and index national and international periodic with period of publication between 1998 and 2008 had been found. Conclusions: It was verifi ed that the physical therapy plays an important role in the treatment of PHS, mainly in those pregnancies that present high pressure systemic before the pregnancy, therefore the aerobic exercise also contributes so that the levels of arterial pressure are controlled, and it is also the physiotherapist oriented as the changes in habits of life so that the risk factors are diminished. Stroke is one of the leading causes of death worldwide; its severity is associated with high death rates and motor, cognitive, and sensory . Several interventions have been proposed in recent years to prevent and primarily treat stroke. LED stands out as one of these interventions; it indicates promising results because it stimulates cellular metabolism, increasing the cellular regenerative potential, and promoting . Thus, the present study evaluated the effects of 630 nm LED in animals submitted to ischemic stroke by analyzing and motor behavior. This was an experimental study with a controlled qualitative and quantitative intervention, with a sample of 30 male Wistar Rattus divided into two groups: a control group and treated group, consisting of 15 animals each. The experimental time points were 3, 7, and 21 days of treatment. All animals were submitted to surgery for the implantation of an electrode and subsequent electrolytic lesion. The quantitative results in the three experimental time points indicate treatment superiority using the 630 nm LED compared to the control group. The findings also showed increased tissue in the treated group at 3, 7, and 21 days of treatment when compared to the control group. Hence, the results suggest that the 630 nm LED guided treatment in the experimental time points of 3, 7, and 21 days was superior to those in the control group, showing animals with increased motor response according to the apprehension test, and improved according to the evaluation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
