RESUMENLa falta de actividad física es uno de los elementos predictores de obesidad. México ocupa el segundo lugar en el mundo en obesidad infantil (24.2%), cifra que obliga a los académicos y los tomadores de decisiones gubernamentales a estudiar la manera de cambiar esa tendencia, en especial debido a la alta comorbilidad de la obesidad con otros problemas de salud pública de alto costo para el país. En esta investigación se realizó una revisión crítica de las intervenciones para aumentar la actividad física en niños y adolescentes tomando como referencia estudios empíricos publicados en los últimos 3 años y que emplearon medidas robustas adicionales al autorreporte con el fin de hacer un diagnóstico. El análisis de 11 estudios en revistas especializadas publicadas en inglés arrojó las siguientes conclusiones: en los países latinoamericanos existe escasa investigación sobre actividad física, la mayoría de los estudios no fueron aleatorizados ni exploraron la relación entre variables fisiológicas, cognitivas y conductuales, y tampoco propusieron modelos contingenciales para predecir la actividad física infantil. La inactividad o falta de actividad física ha sido identificada como el cuarto factor de riesgo para la mortalidad a nivel mundial, atribuyéndosele el 6% de las muertes, porcentaje sólo superado por la hipertensión arterial (13%) y el consumo de tabaco (9%), y comparable al exceso de glucosa en sangre (6%).Se estima que la inactividad física es la principal causa de aproximadamente el 21-25% de los cánceres de mama y de colon, el 27% de la diabetes y aproximadamente el 30% de las cardiopatías isquémicas. Además es un factor determinante en el desarrollo de la obesidad en niños y adultos, que constituye ya un problema de salud pública a nivel mundial (OMS, 2010).La actividad física (AF) se define como cualquier movimiento voluntario producido por la contracción músculo esquelética que tiene como resultado un gasto energético que se añade al metabolismo basal (DHHS, 1996).A pesar de que la OMS señala que la AF es un pilar de la prevención frente a las actuales causas de muerte, los resultados de las distintas estrategias de promoción institucional en México indican que la población general mantiene niveles subóptimos de actividad física, mientras que las estadísticas mundiales advierten que ésta desciende con la edad...

La formación de la licenciatura en psicología incluye la habilidad de investigación como una de las competencias clave de los futuros profesionales. La Facultad de Estudios Superiores Zaragoza (FESZ) imparte dicha unidad de aprendizaje a lo largo de los ocho semestres que dura la carrera. Previamente, se han descrito experiencias heterogéneas de los estudiantes hacia esta asignatura, en las cuales resalta una falta de afinidad hacia esta materia. Un factor clave son las estrategias de enseñanza utilizadas por los docentes. Se han propuesto a las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TICs) como un recurso para complementar esas estrategias. Usando los factores propuestos por Nielsen (1992), se evaluó la usabilidad de ocho recursos basados en TICs para apoyar la enseñanza de la metodología de la investigación (infografías, videos y presentaciones en powerpoint). Participaron 163 estudiantes de psicología de la FESZ, de tres semestres diferentes. Los recursos mejor evaluados fueron los videos y las infografías. Las presentaciones en powerpoint fueron los materiales que más recomendaciones de mejora recibieron. Se observaron asociaciones significativas entre el semestre cursado y la experiencia en la asignatura. Se concluye que estos materiales pueden ser útiles en complementar la enseñanza de la metodología de la investigación.
