Palabras clave: arte rupestre, identidades, invisibilidad, unidades familiares, ocupaciones estacionales This work presents an analysis of rock art images documented in the Guasapampa Valley, located in the western ranges of the Sierras Grandes in the province of Córdoba, Argentina, which was occupied primarily during the summer months from ca. 1300 to 360 BP. To this end we propose that the choice of motifs, patterns of construction of figures and their associations, and the invisibility of the media and panels played a part in social strategies that sought to reinforce ties of identity and belonging of different family units, while at the same time seeking to minimize potential conflict among different groups that made use of and constructed this shared landscape.
AbstractIn the XXXI Volume of Relaciones de la Sociedad Argentina de Antropología (pp. 337-346, 2006), Andrés Laguens published a note where he claims the authorship of ideas and concepts about pre-Columbian history of the Córdoba Ranges that, from his point of view, would have been used by the members of the team which signs this paper without acknowledging his authorship. The purpose of this response is to clarify and define the contributions of this author to dismiss their claims, which we consider unfounded and, believing that its proposals and interpretations are, ultimately, inconsistent with the knowledge currently available. We also stop at the quantitative and qualitative differences in our researches, detailing the specific contributions, their results and importance.
