Nas políticas de currículo formuladas a partir da década de 1990, a melhoria da qualidade da educação no Brasil tem se mostrado frequentemente associada à constituição de um currículo nacional e comum para a educação básica e para a formação de professores. Busca-se explorar como, historicamente, a emergência de uma determinada noção de qualidade veio se associando a padrões e normas de desempenho que acabam por produzir quem devemos ser e o que devemos saber, nas posições de sujeito dos professores e dos estudantes da educação básica. As análises apresentadas consideram a Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC) e as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para a Formação Inicial de Professores para a Educação Básica e Base Nacional Comum para a Formação Inicial de Professores da Educação Básica (BNC-Formação) como documentos que, no tempo presente, reorganizam discursivamente certos critériospara a educação, normatizando práticas, conhecimentos e sujeitos. Nesse movimento, chama atenção como a noção de qualidade da educação se articula com outros enunciados que passam a assumir a centralidade na política do conhecimento oficial, regulando não apenas as possibilidades enunciativas acerca do currículo, como também dos materiais didáticos, das avaliações e da formação de professores.
