The preconception period is the ideal time to optimize the health of women before becoming a mother. The prevalence of stunting is still above 25%, which will affect the next life cycle. The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge and attitudes of fathers through educational nutrition during preconceptions. It was designed as a quasi-experimental study. There were a total of 60 participants in the leaflet group and 60 participants in pocketbooks with incidental sampling technique. Education of first thousands of days of life which contain chronic energy deficiency (CED), anaemia, initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, weaning food and stunting topics was given by officer of Religious Affairs Office for three days. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire through interviews. Data analysis was used pair t-test, Wilcoxon and Mc Nemar test. Results, after getting education using pocketbook, increasing knowledge especially at CED and weaning food (p= 0,006), anaemia, early initiation of breastfeeding and stunting (p= 0,000), exclusive breastfeeding (p= 0,035). Increasing in attitudes significantly after using pocketbooks especially (p < 0,05) on CED, anaemia and initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, and stunting topics. In conclusion, the increase in men's knowledge in the leaflet group, especially anaemia and initiation of breastfeeding while in the pocketbook group all of the topics increased significantly.
Income Level, Energy Adequacy and Hidden Hunger with Toddler Nutrition Status. Nutritional status is a condition caused by the balance between nutrient intake with nutritional needs for metabolism. Several factors which affect the nutritional status of under five years old children are income, energy intake, micronutrient intake, and infection. This study was to know the relation of income, energy intake and hidden hunger with nutritional status of under five years old children in Jembatan Kecil Health Center in Bengkulu City in 2018. The research was used a cross-sectional design. The sample of research was all of under five years old children in Jembatan Kecil Health Center, and Sixty-seven respondents were obtained by simple random sampling technique. The family income was used questionnaire, the measurement of energy intake and hidden hunger have used a recall 24 hours, and the determination of nutritional status was used the WHO Anthro Standart 2005. The statistical test was used Chi-Square Test. The results showed that most of (61,2%) the family income had a high income, most of (56,7%) child had deficit intake energy and most of the child had deficit Vitamin A (67,2%), Zink (55,3%) and Iodine (74,6%) and almost all (89,6%) of a child had deficit Iron. Almost all of the child had normal nutritional status. The result of bivariate analysis showed that the family income had not a relation with nutritional status of under five years old children, and the energy intake had a significant related to nutritional status index BB/U, p-value 0,029 (p<0,05) and TB/U, p-value 0,018 (p<0,05) of under five years old children. The Hidden Hunger had not related to nutritional status of under five years old children. There was no significant relationship between income, energy intake and hidden hunger with nutritional status of under five years old children. Based on the results of this study is expected to be a consultation or counseling of balanced nutrition and active participation of parents in order to maintain and implements a balanced diet and intake of eating in children.
ABSTRAK Pencegahan stunting merupakan program prioritas pembangunan di Indonesia sampai tahun 2024. Nutrisi pada periode 1000 Hari Pertama Kehidupan (HPK), yaitu sejak janin berada dalam kandungan sampai usia 2 tahun kelahiran sangat penting diperhatikan sebagai upaya pencegahan resiko stunting. Kader kesehatan berperan penting dalam self-care management nutrisi ibu selama kehamilan sebagai upaya pencegahan stunting. Permasalahan yang dihadapi kader Kesehatan di Desa Talang Benuang dan Lokasi Baru Kecamatan Air Priukan sebagai desa dari 20 desa lokasi khusus (lokus) stunting di Kabupaten Seluma tahun 2020 adalah kurangnya pengetahuan tentang stunting dan 1000 HPK sehingga belum memiliki bekal yang cukup untuk melaksanakan perannya sebagai pelaku penggerak masyarakat dalam mewujudkan kesehatan termasuk dalam pencegahan dan penanganan stunting. Tujuan PKM adalah memberdayakan kader sebagai garda terdepan dalam meningkatkan self-care management nutrisi ibu hamil untuk meminimalisir risiko stunting pada anak balita. Peserta pelatihan sebanyak 11 (sebelas) orang kader. Metode kegiatan adalah melakukan sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan kader dalam self-care management nutrisi ibu hamil. Hasil kegiatan adalah adanya peningkatan pengetahuan, keterampilan serta kemandirian kader dalam memberikan edukasi dan pendampingan pada ibu hamil dalam self-care management nutrisi. Kader diharapkan mengaplikasikan pengetahuan dan kemampuan yang telah diperoleh untuk memberikan edukasi dan pendampingan terhadap ibu hamil di wilayahnya. Nutrition in the first 1000 days of life (HPK), which is from the fetus is in the womb until 2 years old, is very important to consider as an effort to prevent the risk of stunting. Health cadres play an important role in the self-care management of maternal nutrition during pregnancy as an effort to prevent stunting. The problem faced by health cadres in Talang Benuang Village and Lokasi Baru Village of Air Priukan Subdistrict as a village of 20 special locations (locus) for stunting in Seluma Regency in 2020 is a lack of knowledge about stunting and 1000 HPK so that they do not have sufficient provisions to carry out their role as perpetrators driving the community in realizing health, including the prevention and management of stunting. The goal of PKM is to empower cadres as the front guard in improving nutrition self-care management for pregnant women to minimize the risk of stunting in children under five. The participants were 11 cadres. The method was to conduct socialization, training, and mentoring cadres in self-care management of nutrition for pregnant women. The result of the activity was an increase in knowledge, skills, and independence of cadres in providing education and assistance to pregnant women in nutrition management self-care. Cadres were expected to apply the knowledge and abilities they have acquired to provide education and assistance to pregnant women in their area. Stunting is one of nutritional problem in children which the manifestation started since preconception period. Sensitive intervention is a program outside the health sector that can accelerate the improvement of nutrition, especially stunting. The purpose of this study was to increase the knowledge and attitudes of the preconception period of women regarding the fi rst 1000 days of life in order to prevent stunting. This research was a quasi-experimental study with two intervention groups. The sample was registered women, consisted of 60 women who were given education on 1000 days of life using leafl et media and 60 women using pocket book. Education was carried out by offi cers at 6 Religious Aff airs Offi ce. Women knowledge in leafl et group showed no signifi cant diff erences before and after education, especially in topics of chronic energy defi ciency (p = 0.791), anemia (p = 0.503), early breastfeeding initiation (p = 0.581), exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.832), complementary feeding (p = 1.000), and stunting in children (p = 0.327). Among pocket book group, the increament of knowledge was better compared to leafl et group, especially in the topic of anemia (p <0.001), early breastfeeding initiation (p = 0.002), exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.021), and stunting in children (p = 0.05). Meanwhile, the increase in attitude for all educational materials using pocket books increased with p value <0.05. Conclusion of this study was the increase in knowledge and attitudes of preconception is better in the pocket book group.
