Educational processes, over the past few years, are changing due to the various changes that society has been going through, driven by the insertion of the internet in daily life. The present study presents an essay on the perspectives for Higher Education from the pedagogical practices developed during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Concepts such as Network Education and Hybrid Education bring to light the reflection on the physical and virtual place of the university, involving economic issues that would make higher education courses cheaper in a virtual modality. Based on an exploratory research, outlined in a bibliographic way, the validity of the thesis about a paradigm shift for Higher Education, built under a hybrid model, was investigated. It is concluded that experiencing the university, from a social point of view, is very relevant, in addition to the accumulation of knowledge without articulation with everyday life, and that Hybrid Teaching is a methodological alternative in the establishment of the Network Education process, effective from Active Methodologies.
Abstract. In this work we investigate the modeling of heterogeneous plates, where the length scale of the heterogeneity can be much smaller than the area of the plate's middle surface. We derive a two-dimensional model for the original problem, and the resulting PDEs not only have rough coefficients but also depend on the thickness, resulting in a singularly perturbed problem. We employ asymptotic techniques to show that, as the plate thickness tends to zero, our model converges to the exact solution. To tame the numerical troubles of the resulting model we use finite elements methods of multiscale type.

The use of asymptotic limits to model heterogeneous plates can be troublesome, because it requires a priori knowledge on the ratio between characteristic lengths of heterogeneities and thickness. Moreover, it also relies on some assumption on the inclusions, like periodicity. We propose and analyze here hierarchical modeling techniques and show that such approach not only avoids such pitfalls, but it is actually simpler to obtain, and it provably converges to the correct asymptotic limits. Its derivation does not requires any restrictive assumptions on the heterogeneities.
