An improved design of silicon-on-insulator based 8 × 8 AWG multiplexer is presented using tapered entry into the slab waveguide. Our simulation result clearly shows significant enhancement of electric field from 0.44 V/m to 0.732 V/m, reduction in insertion loss from 7.13 db to 2.7 db, with bandwidth of 230 GHz and channel spacing 200 GHz while keeping other parameters within acceptable limits.
A simple signal conditioning circuit for converting capacitance change into frequency for capacitive humidity sensors is presented. It is based on a relaxation oscillator in which output frequency is linearly related to the capacitive unbalance of an active bridge. The design, analysis, and experimental results of the circuit and its application to a sol gel thin film porous -Al 2 O 3 based humidity sensor are reported. Experimental results confirm the theoretical value predicted. The circuit covering wide capacitance measurement range has the potential for remotely monitoring measurement parameters accurately.
Now a days capacitive touch sensors are widely used in consumer products like MP3 players, mobile phones and other portable devices. More and more the technology is utilized in further application fields such as household appliances as well as automotive and industrial applications. There are several reasons for this development as for reasons of usability, robustness and cost efficiency. Capacitive pressure sensors work by detecting the change in capacitance between a fixed plate and the flexible plate. The major difficulty to the designer is the dimensions and properties used in the simulation of the MEMS devices cannot be exactly followed during fabrication. In order to overcome this problem, we must test the device in simulation for bound of parameters involved in it. This will be done by using Intellisuite software modules like Intellifab, Thermoelectromechanical analysis module, Synple etc.
The present work is aimed to develop porous silicon (PS)-based sensor to measure very low humidity concentration with possible industrial applications. This work is in continuation of our previous results reported (Islam et al., Sens. Lett. 6, 746 (2008)) that the PS layer with pore morphology above 10 nm shows good response above 50 ppmV. To obtain improved sensitivity in the lower range below 50 ppmv, the porous structure with pore dimensions below 10 nm is fabricated by controlling the anodization parameters using precision Solatron Electrochemical Cell (1280C). The sensor based on capacitive principle has porous top metal electrode having pores above 1 mm formed on the porous layer by screen printing technique. The mesh structure increases the area of the electrodes and allows the moisture molecules penetrating through the mesh thus improving both sensitivity and ohmic nature of the contacts. The electrical properties were evaluated by impedance spectroscopy for different contents of water vapour in N 2 gas with Agilent 4294A Impedance Analyzer.
This paper describes the development of an authentication system with Internet of Things (IOT) enabled solution and the dashboard support with mobile applications. This Authentication system is composed of NI myRIO embedded controller with the proximity detection sensor, which senses the presence of the person in front of the device setup. After sensing a person in front of the system, GSM module is utilized to send the unique One Time Password (OTP) to the owner of the system for accessing and will provide an option of entering the OTP through the assembled thumbwheel switches. Once after entering the password, on board button of NI myRIO has to be pressed to make an entry of the password into system. If password matches with master database OTP, authentication will be provided to the end user along with LED glowing status and motor rotation will be turned on. If the password doesn’t match with the master database password, the buzzer will be blowing indicating the authentication failure that means access denied. In both the cases the data will be updated to cloud through dweet IOT service and the same status can be even updated into dash board application.
