Objetivo: La especie Clinopodium pulchellum (Kunt) Govaerts “panizara” es una especie aromática nativa del Perú, según datos etnofarmacológicos presenta propiedades medicinales. El objetivo fue evaluar la actividad captadora de radicales y el efecto antioxidante del aceite esencial de las hojas de “panizara” mediante técnicas químicas y bioquímicas in vitro. Materiales y Métodos: La determinación de la actividad antioxidante, fue realizada por dos métodos de decoloración de los radicales DPPH y ABTS, a través del método espectrofotométrico. Resulados: Los resultados obtenidos en la concentración inhibitoria media (IC50) para el aceite esencial de panizara fue 2288,31 μg/mL y 3,8 μg/mL para el Trolox con el método del DPPH. Mientras con el método del ABTS, el IC50 para el aceite esencial de panizara fue 30,87 μg/mL y 17,04 μg/mL para el Trolox. Conclusión: En conclusión, los resultados indican que el aceite esencial de “panizara” posee actividad antioxidante dicha actividad se deben a la estructura química y propiedades redox, comparables con la literatura internacional.
