<span>Introducción: En el Perú, a pesar de que existen numerosas industrias que utilizan materias primas a base de plomo que pueden presentar riesgos para la salud de los trabajadores, no existe una normativa en los lugares de trabajo para la exposición al plomo. Los trabajadores de la industria están en riesgo de exposición al plomo y por lo tanto el desarrollo de la toxicidad por saturnismo. Objetivo: El objetivo de este estudio fue medir la concentración de plomo en la sangre y obtener información sobre hallazgos clínicos y protección personal, en trabajadores expuestos a plomo del cercado de Ica. Métodos: Estudio de tipo observacional y transversal, se llevó a cabo con trabajadores de la industria gráfica, automotriz y gasolineras de la ciudad de Ica (Perú), de Enero a Junio del año 2009. La información sobre protección personal y hábitos higiénico-laborales en trabajadores del cercado de Ica, se obtuvo mediante entrevista directa a 30 trabajadores. Para medir plomo sanguíneo, se utilizó espectrofotometría de absorción atómica con horno de grafito. Resultados: Los trabajadores de imprenta presentan un valor de plomo en sangre (46,30 μg/ dL), seguido por los trabajadores de mecánica automotriz (27,90 ug/dL) y expendedores de gasolina con un (26,60 ug/dl). Los síntomas más comunes atribuibles a la toxicidad del plomo fueron nauseas, mareos (33%); cefalea, irritabilidad (27%), fatiga, debilidad (17%) y mialgias (3%) y síntomas de saturnismo (p<0,05). Conclusión: Los resultados del estudio han demostrado claramente que los niveles de plomo sanguíneo de los trabajadores de imprenta de la ciudad de Ica son considerablemente más alta con un rango de 21,90 a 46,30 ug / dL, por tanto están en peligro inminente de toxicidad por plomo.</span>
Objetivo: La especie Clinopodium pulchellum (Kunt) Govaerts “panizara” es una especie aromática nativa del Perú, según datos etnofarmacológicos presenta propiedades medicinales. El objetivo fue evaluar la actividad captadora de radicales y el efecto antioxidante del aceite esencial de las hojas de “panizara” mediante técnicas químicas y bioquímicas in vitro. Materiales y Métodos: La determinación de la actividad antioxidante, fue realizada por dos métodos de decoloración de los radicales DPPH y ABTS, a través del método espectrofotométrico. Resulados: Los resultados obtenidos en la concentración inhibitoria media (IC50) para el aceite esencial de panizara fue 2288,31 μg/mL y 3,8 μg/mL para el Trolox con el método del DPPH. Mientras con el método del ABTS, el IC50 para el aceite esencial de panizara fue 30,87 μg/mL y 17,04 μg/mL para el Trolox. Conclusión: En conclusión, los resultados indican que el aceite esencial de “panizara” posee actividad antioxidante dicha actividad se deben a la estructura química y propiedades redox, comparables con la literatura internacional.
