-(Structural analysis of the vegetation on a highland granitic rock outcrop in Southeast Brazil). Granitic rock outcrops of the Brazilian southeast are either coastal or inland. The latter can often have high altitudes, such as in the summits of "Serra do Mar" and "Serra da Mantiqueira", where they are known as "Campos de Altitude". The landscape on these high altitude plateaux is often a mosaic of shrubs and treelets within a bunchgrass matrix, with sparse pteridophytes and other herbs, interspersed with variable extensions of rock outcrops. Despite the pervasiveness of rock outcrops in the Brazilian landscape, studies on the structural analysis of the vegetation on such formations are scarce. This study aimed to analyze the structure of the vegetation on a highland granitic rock outcrop in "Parque Estadual da Serra do Brigadeiro", state of Minas Gerais, Southeast Brazil (42°20' -42°40' S and 20°20' -21°00' W, 1,722 m of elevation ). Quantitative parameters of absolute and relative frequency and dominance (cover) were estimated. The group analysis used the Jaccard similarity index. Trilepis lhotzkiana, Panicum sp. 1, and Vellozia variegata presented the highest relative frequencies, relative dominances and importance values. These three species, along with Dyckia bracteata, Rhynchospora emaciate, and Tibouchina cf. manicata, represented 98.3% of the relative dominance. The remaining 1.7% referred to 22 remaining species. The distinction among quadrats within formed groups by cluster analysis was due to the great number of low frequency species.Key words -high altitude vegetation, photographic chart method, rock outcrop, "Parque Estadual da Serra do Brigadeiro", structural analysis RESUMO -(Análise estrutural da vegetação sobre um afloramento rochoso granítico de altitude no Parque Estadual da Serra do Brigadeiro, Minas Gerais, Brasil). This work aimed to study the pollination ecology of the tropical weed Triumfetta semitriloba Jacq. (Tiliaceae), in Viçosa, South-eastern Brazil, during the flowering season of 1993 and 1994. Two patches located in pasture (P1 and P2) and one patch in a forest trail (P3) were chosen and ten plants on each patch were sorted. The number of opened flowers were counted during one day, in each flowering month and patch. All observed flower visitors were identified and their behavior while visiting flowers was recorded. Frequency of visits to flowered branches was obtained and some pollinator individuals were captured for analysis of pollen load. Flowers are conspicuously yellow and actinomorphic, with five nectaries around the ovary base, and opened sequentially in the afternoon. Flower phenology followed a modified steady-state Gentry's pattern. The number of opened flowers was higher in P2, but differences between months were not homogeneous between patches. Considering behaviour when collecting pollen or nectar, which permitted impregnation of stigma with pollen, visiting frequency and percent of T. semitriloba pollen on pollen load (100% for all of them, except for Augochlorella michaelis which was 81%) the following species were the mainly pollinators: Augochloropsis cupreola, Augochlorella michaelis, Cressomiella aff. sussurans, Cressomiella sussurans, Cressomiella sp., Pseudocentron paulistana, Ceratinula sp1, Ceratinula sp2 and Ceratinula sp3, Melissodes sexcincta, Apis mellifera, Plebeia cf. nigriceps, Plebeia droryana. Frequency of pollinators visitation was not different between patches and not uniform during anthesis. RESUMOEcologia da Polinização da Planta Invasora, Triumfetta semitriloba Jacq. (Tiliaceae), no sudeste do Brasil Este trabalho tem por objetivo estudar a ecologia da polinização da planta invasora Triumfetta semitriloba Jacq. (Tiliaceae), em Viçosa, MG, Brasil, durante a estação de floração de 1993 e 1994. Foram escolhidas duas manchas de plantas localizadas em pastos abandonados (P1 e P2) e uma mancha em clareira de mata (P3). Dez plantas, em cada mancha, foram sorteadas. Durante um dia de cada mês de floração foi contado o número de flores abertas por planta. Todos os visitantes florais foram identificados e registrado o comportamento. Foi obtida a freqüência de visitas aos ramos floridos e alguns polinizadores foram coletados para análise da carga de pólen. As flores de T. semitriloba são actinomórficas com cinco nectários em torno da base do ovário, e abrem, seqüencialmente, no período da tarde. A fenologia floral seguiu o padrão "steady-state" modificado de Gentry. O número de flores abertas foi maior em P2, mas as diferenças entre meses não foram homogêneas entre as manchas.

A utilização de reguladores vegetais tem sido realizada com frequência, especialmente em canaviais das grandes usinas de álcool ou açúcar do Brasil devido à necessidade de antecipação da colheita e otimização do planejamento agrícola. Todavia, aplicações incorretas desses produtos podem afetar negativamente os processos fisiológicos da planta resultando no insucesso desta tecnologia. Nesta pesquisa foram avaliados os efeitos de aplicações do trinexapac-ethyl, em diferentes épocas sobre as características fisiológicas da cana-de-açúcar visando melhorar o manejo desta cultura. Os tratamentos avaliados foram dispostos em blocos casualizados, em arranjo fatorial (3 x 2 + 2) com quatro repetições. O fator A correspondeu às épocas de aplicação do regulador vegetal (120, 200 e 240 dias após a brotação das gemas (DAB) da cana-de-açúcar) e o fator B o número de aplicações (uma ou duas aplicações). Além disto, foram adicionadas duas testemunhas (uma com três aplicações e outra sem aplicação do regulador). O modo de aplicação do trinexapac-ethyl (número e épocas de aplicação) afetou, de maneira diferente, as características fisiológicas das plantas de cana-de-açúcar. A aplicação única aos 120 DAB e sequencial aos 120, 200 e 240 DAB aumentou o consumo de CO 2 , a condutância estomática, a taxa transpiratória e a taxa fotossintética. Concluiu-se, então, que a aplicação do trinexapac-ethyl poderá resultar em benefício agronômico à cultura da cana-de-açúcar, pois, quando aplicado aos 120 ou de forma sequencial aos 120, 200 e 240 DAB, promove incrementos positivos nas variáveis componentes do processo da fotossíntese que pode resultar em melhor desenvolvimento e crescimento da cultura. Glyphosate-Resistant Crops (GR crops) have caused considerable changes in weed management worldwide. In Brazil, GR cultivars of soybean and corn were officially introduced in the 2005/06 and 2011/12 crops, respectively. This technology has radically changed the weed management system, having an enormous impact on national agriculture. The objective of this review was to analyze the general aspects that led to the adoption of this technology in Brazil and present its future consequences and challenges. The adoption of GR soybean and corn was swift and comprehensive. Ten years after its introduction, GR soybean and corn are grown in most areas with these crops in Brazil. This success can be attributed to the reduction of costs, the broad spectrum of control provided by glyphosate, the solution for effective management resistance to ALS and ACCase inhibitors, the excellent managing of weeds that are difficult to control, the reduction of crop injury and carryover problems. However, the exclusive and consecutive use of glyphosate alone resulted in intense selection pressure for resistant weeds to this herbicide, which has become one of the most prominent challenges with these crops. Therefore, the future sustainability of GR soybean and corn will not be possible without the combination with other technologies, within integrated weed management.

-Aiming to verify the presence of eggs parasitoids of the genus Trichogramma, for using in the biological control of insects pests, were collected eggs from long tailed skipper butterfly, a lepidopteran defoliator of snap beans, which presented eggs with parasitism characteristics (dark eggs). The eggs were taken to the laboratory were 44.9% of parasitism was verified. Viability was 96.3%, with an average of 6.6 individuals per egg and a sexual ratio of 0.93. Male specimens were identified as Trichogramma bruni Nagaraja. It is the first report of parasitism in this host and culture.KEY WORDS: Insecta, egg parasitoid, lepidopteran defoliator RESUMO -Visando averiguar a presença de parasitóides do gênero Trichogramma, para utilização no controle biológico de pragas na cultura do feijão-vagem, foram coletadas posturas de Urbanus proteus (L.) que apresentavam ovos com características de parasitismo (ovos escuros). Os ovos foram encaminhados ao laboratório, onde se observou 44,9% de parasitismo. Constatou-se a viabilidade de 96.3%, com a média de 6,6 indivíduos por ovo e razão sexual de 0,93. Espécimes machos foram identificados, mostrando tratar-se de Trichogramma bruni Nagaraja, espécie que até então não havia sido descrita nesse hospedeiro e cultura. É uma das olerícolas de maior comercialização, com a maior parte da produção consumida in natura (Filgueira 2003), o que torna indispensável oferecer um produto limpo, livre de pragas e resíduos de agrotóxicos.Diversas pragas podem ocorrer no feijão-vagem e, dentre elas, a lagarta cabeça-de-fósforo, Urbanus proteus (L.), tem sido registrada em vários estados brasileiros, causando danos em várias fabáceas de importância econômica. Alimenta-se do limbo foliar com voracidade, podendo causar desfolha total da planta e até danificar as hastes mais finas (Nava & Parra 2002).Como essa praga em feijão-vagem causa danos através de surtos, seu controle tem sido realizado exclusivamente com inseticidas, muitas vezes indiscriminadamente, o que eleva o custo de produção e leva ao aumento do desequilíbrio do agroecossistema.Como forma alternativa de manejo de pragas, visando reduzir o uso de agrotóxicos, tem-se os inimigos naturais, como os parasitóides de ovos do gênero Trichogramma. The interference caused by volunteer plants dispersed after harvest can cause economic losses to growers. This work aims to identify the competitive ability and the economic threshold level of maize hybrids in different densities of volunteer soybean. The experiment was carried out in the field, in a randomized blocks design, with one replication. The treatments were maize hybrids (NK 422 Vip3; NK 488 Vip3; Syn Supremo Vip3; Brevant 2A401 PWU; FS 481 PW; e FS 620 PWU) and 12 densities of volunteer soybean established for each hybrid, going from 0 to maximum of 130 plants m -2 . At 30 days after emergence, were assessed the plant density (PD), soil cover (SC), leaf area (LA), and shot dry mass (SDM) of volunteer soybean plants. The maize hybrids NK 488 Vip3, Syn Supremo Vip3, and Brevant 2A401 PWU showed the highest competitive abilities that influenced economic threshold levels that ranged from 1,01 to 3,82 plants m -2 . Thus, it concluded that volunteer soybean causes yield losses when infesting maize, and hybrids show different competitive abilities, being the economic threshold level directly influenced by these characteristics.
