This paper investigates the cause of ignition of wooden shields during surface fire fronts. For this purpose an experiment was conducted in which a zone 50m in length and 10m in width was chosen as the experimental site. Wooden shields (made of spruce boards) and samples of high-moor and valley peat were placed in this zone. In the experiment it was ascertained that to ensure safety during the surface fire in absence of firebrands and embers it was necessary to clear a perimeter around the zone not less than 5m in width, and remove cleared fuels. To reduce the risk of fence ignition, it was necessary to make the fences permeable. It was found that grass fires turn into peat fires if there is a conductor of combustion above the layer of peat.
This work has been aimed at measuring the absolute light yield of LGSO:Ce, CWO, ZnSe:Al, and GSO:Ce scintillators in photons/MeV using the PMT intrinsic resolution method. Special feature of this paper is simultaneous and self-consistent determination of absolute light yield and light collection coefficient of the detector.
We report on an initial examination of the potential of immersive unit visualizations in virtual reality, showing how these visualizations can help viewers examine data at multiple scales and support affective, personal experiences with data. We outline unique opportunities for unit visualizations in virtual reality, including support for (1) dynamic scale transitions, (2) immersive exploration, and (3) anthropomorphic interactions. We then demonstrate a prototype system and discuss the potential for virtual reality visualization to support personal interactions with data.
The paper explores the competition dynamics of the global seed market. It documents the growth strategies of the major seed companies, in particular their M&A activity and their reliance on complex intellectual property strategies in order to offer a one stop shop solution to farmers. Recent merger activity in this sector (the Monsanto bid to buy Syngenta, the DuPont and Dow merger deal, ChemChina's bid to buy Syngenta) illustrates its rapid transformation from an already concentrated industry to a tight oligopoly on a global scale. The increasing global consolidation of this industry raises new challenges for competition law enforcement authorities dealing with the emergence of new powerful actors at the factor of production (input) level, in view of the broader concerns animating public policy in the food sector and the existence of a nexus of international commitments for biodiversity, sustainability, the right to food etc. By exploring this under-studied but fascinating area of competition law enforcement we open the debate over the inclusion of broader public interest concerns in competition policy and the consideration of its distributive impact from a global perspective.

Kozyrev (2001) The influence of synthesis temperature on structure properties of SrTiO 3 ferroelectric films,The results of structure investigations of SrTi03 films depending on synthesis temperature are presented and electrical characteristics of 4-electrode planar capacitors based on prepared films are investigated. Finally, the technological conditions of high structure quality SrTi03 films preparation are determined. SrTiO3 films prepared under these conditions possess electrical characteristics sufficient for room temperature MW applications in a wide frequency range.
