Completely randomized block experimental design was used with a 2 3 factorial arrangement, three repetitions and 72 experimental units. Treatments were irrigated with non saline (0.5 dS m -1 ) and saline (4.5 dS m -1 ) water, in holes with and without bovine biofertilizer, with and without mulching. After harvesting fresh mass, width, length, format index, thickness and percentage of skin, number of seeds, pulp mass, juice mass, pH, pulp revenue, soluble solids, titratable acidity, SS/TA ratio and vitamin C content were evaluated. Treatments with bovine biofertilizer and mulching presented weightier fruits, independently of saline water level. Bovine biofertilizer affected fruit skin thickness, soluble solids and titratable acidity. The highest vitamin C contents were obtained in fruits from two treatments: irrigated with non saline water and biofertilized, and irrigated with saline water, not biofertilized and with mulching.
The experiment was conducted during the period of September 2006 to December 2007, in Remígio county Paraiba State, Brazil. The experimental design was randomized blocks with three replications using the factorial squeme 5 x 2 referring to liquid cattle manure (CLM) diluted with water (W) at levels 0% (0CLM + 4W); 25% (1CLM + 3W); 50% (2CLM + 2W); 75% (3CLM + 1W) and 100% (4CLM + 0W) taking 4 L plant -1 as standard volume of each mixture in soil without and with nitrogen applied monthly from 30 days after the planting to the end of the experiment. At 420 days after planting, were obtained the stem diameter and the number of productive branches of the plants; then, the plants were collected, each plant was divided in root, stem, lateral and productive branches and was obtained the dry matter of each part of the plant. The results showed that the interaction liquid cattle manure x nitrogen exercise significant effect on stem diameter, productive branches and biomass of the root, stem, leaves, lateral and productive branches, but with statistic superiority to plants with cattle liquid manure and urea applied to the soil.
The substrate was material of a non-saline soil collected in depth of 0-20 cm. The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design using a 5 x 2 factorial, referring to salinity levels of irrigation water of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 dS m -1 , with and without bovine biofertilizer applied to the soil only once after dilution with water (1:1), a day before sowing, in volume corresponding to 10% of the substrate. At 86 days after emergence of seedlings the plant growth in height and principal root length, diameter of stem and root, leaf number and dry mass of roots and shoots of plants were evaluated. The salinity of irrigation water increased the salinity levels in the substrate inhibiting the growth in height, stem diameter, leaf emission by plants, diameter and length of principal root and the dry matter production of roots and aerial parts (leaves + stem) of neem, but with less pronounced decrease in plants under the treatments with bovine biofertilizer.
The experiment was conducted in field in the municipaly Remigio, state of the Paraiba, Brazil, to evaluate the effects of the use of saline water for irrigation, bovine biofertilizer and mulch on the chemical characteristics of the fruits of yellow passion fruit. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial 2 x 2 x 2, three replications and three plants per experimental unit. Study material consisted of irrigation with water is not saline (0.50 dS m -1 ) and saline (4.50 dS m -1 ), with and without application of bovine biofertilizer, with and without mulch. The use of bovine biofertilizer reduced the negative action of the salts, increasing the pH, soluble solids and vitamin C in fruits of yellow passion fruit. The veal and mulching biofertilizer did not affect the titratable acidity values in passion fruit with an increased salt content of water. The content of vitamin C in fruits did not change with the use of mulch and biofertilizer veal. The ratio soluble solids / acidity of the passion fruit was reduced with the use of organic inputs and soil cover by applying saline water for irrigation of plants. The increasing salinity of irrigation water increased the electrical conductivity of the juice, regardless of the application of fertilizer and use of mulch.Key words: Passiflora edulis, soluble solids, vitamin C, chemical attributes. The size and yield of fruit are important in the physical quality of the fruits destined for markets and industry. An experiment was performed to evaluate the form, peel strength and yield of fruits of yellow passion fruit plant produced in substrata with bovine bio-fertilizer and mulching, irrigated with saline water. The treatments were designed in three random blocks using a 2 x 2 x 2 factorial arrangement; irrigation with non-saline (0.50 dS m -1 ) and saline (4.50 dS m -1 ) water, with and without application of bovine biofertilizer and with and without mulching. The passion fruit fruits were harvested when 30% of the peel was yellowish; we evaluated the diameter of the longitudinal cavity (length), diameter of the equatorial cavity (width), fruit form index, peel strength and juice and pulp yield. The substrate with bovine bio-fertilizer and mulching irrigated with high salinity water reduced the diameter of the longitudinal and equatorial cavity, the fruit form index and increased the firmness of the peel of the fruits of the yellow passion fruit plant. However, the use of the bovine biofertilizer and mulching irrigated with non-saline water increased the diameter of the equatorial and longitudinal cavity and the fruit form index.Key words: Passiflora edulis, quality of fruit, salinity, organic input.
