Purpose: This article aims to develop an instrument to assess the collective performance of work teams' production. Associated with this, this evaluation instrument is applied to two production teams from the same company in Santa Catarina, to validate it. Methodology: The study is characterized as descriptive, quantitative and survey strategy. In order to develop the performance evaluation instrument, the literature review presented was taken as a starting point to guide the selection of the 10 indicators and 30 evaluation criteria enabling the elaboration f the questionnaire. Results: In general, it is possible to observe that the teams performed “good” in most of their indicators, and none of the indicators showed “poor”, “bad” or “regular” evaluations. It is suggested to develop some strategies to overcome the weakness shown by the communication indicator in both teams. Regarding the use of the instrument, it proved to be adequate to assess the collective performance, pointing out its strengths and weaknesses. Limitation: Singularity of application in a single company, not allowing generalizations to be made to other production teams. Originality: The proposal of an instrument to evaluate production teams ‘performance, indicating the team’s strengths and weaknesses.
This article aims to identify the explanatory factors of collective competencies in fashiondesign teams using a survey of 22 fashion designers from Santa Catarina. Exploratory factordata analysis and analysis of variance techniques were applied. The results showed fourexplanatory factors: collective spirit, interaction, cooperation, and relationship. Our findingsmade evident how relevant these factors are in the composition and formation of groups, manifesting themselves as descriptive and essential attributes for collective competencies. The synergistic combination of the factors allows the teams to develop shared actions infavor of work organization based on interactions and visions, which, although distinct, canbe shared.
Biomass, such as mandarin peels and rice husks, are among the most abundant and accessible sources for the conversion of crops into solid biofuel. It is important to highlight that sustainable bioenergy must have high efficiency; therefore, the heating values of biofuel samples produced from rice husks, mandarin peels, corn starch, glycerol, citric acid and acetic acid have been evaluated in the present study. The total moisture content, ash content and heating values of the sixteen biofuels produced were determined. The compressive strength was also determined and it was found that all the samples presented maximum resistance, appropriate for the storage and handling of the developed solid biofuel. Replacing rice husks with mandarin peels resulted in a reduction of the silica mass in the ash content. In addition, in four specimens, the amounts of nutrients (N, P, K, Ca and Mg) and heavy metals (Cu, Zn, Fe, Mn, Cd, Pb, Cr and Al) found in the ash were measured. It was found that the amount of nutrients increased proportionally with the quantity of mandarin peels in the solid biofuel. The solid biofuel with a higher quantity of mandarin peels showed greater high and low heating values, which were 19.18 MJ.kg -1 and 17.92 MJ.kg -1 , respectively. All the developed biofuels were shown to be capable of replacing traditional heat sources, such as firewood (7.12-10.47 MJ.kg -1 ).
Biopacking material was obtained by incorporating tangerine peel extract (Citrus reticulata) in cellulose acetate (CA) film. The acetate film with tangerine extract was shown to have a homogeneous material characteristic by FTIR and DSC analysis, being reinforced in MEV and MFA, and showed absence of pores in the film with extract. These characteristics justify the reduced water absorption and release of the CA membrane extract. Low water absorption is important for the film to act as a barrier with external environment and the release of the extract was sufficient to prevent the growth of the strains investigated on the sample surface. The introduction of the extract also reduced the tensile strength and deformation of the film. This study showed the good potential of biomass for active bio packing that can gradually replace non-renewable packaging and take advantage of agricultural waste.
Study objective: Family businesses gain notoriety in academic research because they have peculiarities found with the phenomenon of generations, and it is for these attributes that this work aims to analyze the epistemological bias, the results of a systematization that uses the unique characteristics of family businesses, called Familiness, as well as by another construct better known as entrepreneurial orientation. Methodology/approach: To reach this objective, an investigation of the national and international academic production was carried out through a systematization called Proknow-C, being possible to identify the main categorical groups of authors in the area, main journals, as well as to identify and analyze the main objectives and the contributions of the selected scientific articles. Relevance/originality: This study reinforces the unique characteristics of family businesses, in which this work aims to consolidate a methodological proposal with arguments linked to positivism or interpretivism in full epistemology. Main results: Among the results, it was possible to consolidate some research intentions inherent to the junction of such constructs, besides directing, which may be the best and most promising research fields for the application of these constructs and the most indicated methods, guided by the three epistemological positions, subjectivism, objectivism and constructivism.
Purpose This study aims to analyze the alignment between sustainable performance and sustainability planning in higher education, proposing a strategic map that integrates planning with the implementation of performance actions and sustainable performance on campuses. Design/methodology/approach The literature review development addresses sustainability in higher education institutions (HEIs). Data collection took place in two ways, documentary, through the analysis of documents and through an open interview, guided by a script with 13 questions. For data interpretation, the content analysis technique was applied. Findings To achieve the objective of this work, this study proposed a sustainable performance strategic map for better management of the university’s green strategies, based on three dimensions: internal processes, educational and sustainable performance. Originality/value This study’s main contribution was to propose a sustainable performance strategic map as a strategic management system aimed at HEIs to accelerate the promotion of sustainability in these organizations.
