Abstract

The academic interest in analyzing the correlates of sports participation in several countries has increased recently. Nevertheless, in developing countries, which do not monitor sportive data, this type of investigation is still scarce. This study aims to analyze socioeconomic, motivational, and supportive factors related to sports participation in Brazil. Data from the 2015 National Household Survey—Supplementary Questionnaire of Sports and Physical Activities are examined. In the survey, 71,142 individuals older than 15 years were interviewed (mean age 43.12 years; 53.83% women and 46.17% men). Logistic regression is used for analyzing the data. Results demonstrate a low participation in sports (23.38%). Sports participation declines with increasing age (2% less per year), increases with higher educational level (graduated 5.9 times more), and males prevail in the sporting context (2.3 times more). The main obstacle to women’s participation is the lack of sports facilities, and for men the lack of time and health problems. Men practice sports mainly due to socialization, fun, and competition, and women due to medical recommendation. Soccer was the most practiced sport (28.1%), predominating among men. Public policies on sports promotion for fun and socialization may increase male participation, and investments in sports facilities may increase female participation.

Resumo: Esta pesquisa descritiva e documental objetivou analisar o processo de formação continuada do Programa Segundo Tempo, do Ministério do Esporte brasileiro. A coleta de dados consistiu na aplicação de questionários eletrônicos, respondidos por 23 coordenadores pedagógicos, 267 professores e 198 monitores de esportes de entidades convenentes, e na consulta a documentos internos da Secretaria Nacional de Esporte, Educação, Lazer e Inclusão Social. Sob o apontamento e a análise de aspectos positivos e negativos, verificou-se efetividade no processo de formação continuada, deflagrado na capacitação pedagógica e amparado pelo material didático disponibilizado aos recursos humanos atuantes no programa.Abstract: This descriptive, documental research looks into the process of continuing education for the Brazilian Ministry of Sports' Program Segundo Tempo. Data collection consisted of applying electronic questionnaires to 23 pedagogical coordinators, 267 teachers, and 198 sports monitors from partner organizations as well as consulting internal documents of the National Office for Sports, Education, Leisure and Social Inclusion. By indicating and examining positive and negative aspects, it verified the effectiveness of the process of continuing education triggered by pedagogical training and supported by the teaching material offered to personnel working in the program.Resumen: Este estudio descriptivo y documental tuvo como objetivo analizar el proceso de formación continua que ofrece el Programa Segundo Tempo del Ministerio de Deportes de Brasil. La recolección de datos consistió en cuestionarios electrónicos, respondidos por 23 coordinadores pedagógicos, 267 profesores y 198 monitores de deportes de entidades asociadas, y en la consulta a documentos internos de la Secretaría Nacional de Deportes, Educación, Recreación e Inclusión Social. Apuntando y analizando aspectos positivos y negativos, se constató la eficacia del proceso de formación continua, iniciado en la formación pedagógica y con el apoyo de materiales didácticos puestos a disposición de los recursos humanos que trabajan en el programa. RESUMOEsta pesquisa descritiva documental do tipo descritiva teve por objetivo analisar as recomendações pedagógicas emitidas pelas Equipes Colaboradoras e registradas nos instrumentos de avaliação de visita in loco, com vistas à compreensão da efetividade da estratégia de acompanhamento e assessoria pedagógica adotada pelo Programa Segundo Tempo. Para tanto, foram utilizados, como fonte de dados, 260 instrumentos de avaliação in loco, os quais são elaborados a partir do acompanhamento e assessoria pedagógica das Equipes Colaboradoras junto aos convênios atendidos pelo Programa Segundo Tempo. Para o tratamento dos dados, recorreu-se à estatística descritiva e à técnica de análise de conteúdo. Observou-se que o suporte pedagógico das Equipes Colaboradoras é uma ação em potencial para a organização do trabalho nos convênios para atendimento das diretrizes pedagógicas do programa, indicando a relevância dessa estratégia para a qualificação do atendimento ofertado nos núcleos de esporte educacional. A modo de conclusão, entende-se que a estratégia adotada pelo programa de acompanhar e assessorar o trabalho pedagógico se coloca como ação indispensável para a qualificação da proposta pedagógica do Programa Segundo Tempo. ABSTRACTThis descriptive descriptive documentary research aimed to analyze the pedagogical recommendations issued by the Collaborating Teams and registered in the instruments of evaluation of on site visit, with a view to understanding the effectiveness of the strategy of accompaniment and pedagogical advice adopted by the Segundo Tempo Program. For this purpose, 260 on-site evaluation instruments were used as data sources, which are elaborated based on the accompaniment and pedagogical advice of the Collaborating Teams along with the agreements served by the Segundo Tempo Program. For the treatment of the data, we used descriptive statistics and the technique of content analysis. It was observed that the pedagogical support of the Collaborating Teams is an important action for the organization of work in the agreements to meet the pedagogical guidelines of the program, indicating the relevance of this strategy for the qualification of the service offered in the educational sports nucleus. Completion mode means that the strategy adopted by the program to monitor and advise the pedagogical work stands as an essential action for the qualification of the pedagogical proposal of the Segundo Tempo Program.
